A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

The other animals in the house are ALSO family. We do not eat, torture, kill or hurt them. This also goes for “little people”, whom we call children

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

When I sit at the computer that is NOT your clue to jump in front of the monitor, walk or sit on keyboard or decide to begin licking my face. I know I spend too much time there but give me at least the first half hour.

It is not a good idea to roll in dead “anything” or some other animals poopie. If & when you do, a bath will follow. NOT fun for either of us. Hope you are a fast learner on this one.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.

2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur";niture.)

3. I like my pets a lot better than most people.

4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. Dogs and cats are sometimes better than kids .they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college - and if they get pregnant, you can sell the children.

With thanks from your loving owner

Yes, The Chach has finally grown into his ears, I am happy to say.

Welsh Corgi's are nice little family dogs. Not too big, not to small. Queen Elizabeth II has four Welsh Corgis. I found this on a website about the Queen's dogs....."This is the continuation of a long family tradition begun by her father, King George VI, who kept several corgis. Corgis have since become a symbol of the present royal family." And this..."The Queen currently owns four Corgis called Pharos, Swift, Emma and Linnet; three 'Dorgis' (Corgis crossed with a Dachshund) called Brandy, Cider and Berry and five Cocker Spaniels called Bisto, Oxo, Flash, Spick and Span."

More trivia about the Queen and her dogs......."The Queen is rarely without her Corgis, as she travels between Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Balmoral. When the Queen is at home she insists on feeding all the dogs herself, mixing each bowlful to the pet's individual taste."

That must take her quite awhile to feed all those dogs. Of course, I suppose she doesn't have all that much else to do. LOL.

interesting tidbits.. I had never heard of the breed.. which is n't saying much as I have not heard or would know by site a lot of breeds. I am sure the pooches are her babies.. her kids surely turned into some "interesting" adults along the way... didn't they? We are often disappointed by our kids along the way.. but rarely do our pets disappoint us

Nice she travels w/them & the same with POTUS.. my new pooch has done more driving today than since her birth prolly. I take my pooches with me almost everywhere.. for quite a few reasons.

Yes, indeed. Speaking of her "kids", I just read on another website that the corgi Pharos is no longer with her. Seems one of her daughter's (Princess Ann) bull terriers attacked him on Christmas Eve a couple years ago. The dog was so badly hurt that he had to be put down. The Queen was understandably devastated. Isn't that just an awful thing to have happen anytime, but especially on Christmas Eve?

Your dogs have such an interesting life, Dolly, because you take them everywhere with you. Jody will, no doubt, come to love bicycling and kayaking just as your other dogs have.

Oh my how awful to have that happen.. and I am guessing the dogs had been together before.. wonder if the bull terrier was NOT neutered & thus more aggressive.. I know our dogs (mine & various friends) can play rough & sometimes get carried away. We have to stop them as the rough play becomes more intense.

Jody.. might turn to Josy.. (pronounced Joe-see). Keeping lettering for Logo reasons.. Jody sounds too much like Toby (mom's suggestion.. and prolly right.

time will tell about her participation in activities.. I am hoping so & she seems to love the outdoors & romping. She hated being on the leash today while others ran freely.

I think that is a good idea too. We did not consider how close "Chachi" sounds to "Jackie". When I would call one of the dogs, the other would come running because they thought *they* were being called. So now we try to remember to call Jackie "Jack". But they both still come when they hear either name....probably because they think treats might be involved and they might miss out on something good. LOL.

Time to fix dinner here. TTYL Dolly. Congratulations on your new friend. She is just beautiful!

To: The Mayor

There was some big thing in the media about Bush 41 calling him Sadam, since it meant whatever it means...at first I figured Bush was just misspeaking, but part of me wonders if he did it sorta on purpose.

Speaking of adorable pets...a co-worker had a friend who e-mailed this picture...they had nearly run over it on the highway. There was no mom anywhere so they took it home with them.....an albino fawn.

Isn't he something. Sorry I didn't ping you...I intended to ping everyone but got in a hurry! LOL!

Here's what the lady said that took the pictures.

So, he is gone now. We got a lot of pix, and something we will never see again probably, so it was very cool. Maybe he will make it in captivity somewhere and be appreciated. So rare... Sure wanted to keep him tho. but, not the thing to do. And not LEGAL either...the kids...called him Powder.
