A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
The other animals in the house are ALSO family. We do not eat, torture, kill or hurt them. This also goes for little people, whom we call children
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
When I sit at the computer that is NOT your clue to jump in front of the monitor, walk or sit on keyboard or decide to begin licking my face. I know I spend too much time there but give me at least the first half hour.
It is not a good idea to roll in dead anything or some other animals poopie. If & when you do, a bath will follow. NOT fun for either of us. Hope you are a fast learner on this one.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!
To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:
Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur";niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. Dogs and cats are sometimes better than kids .they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college - and if they get pregnant, you can sell the children.
With thanks from your loving owner

Trying to catch up on a thread in the evening is like trying to jump on a moving roller coaster!
Pet threads are always so enjoyable, and tension relievers..:)
I cannot believe no fella/husband has responded to your "Terrible Towel" inquiry!
In Alaska, our television programs arrived as films 4 weeks after the Lower 48 had them, going first to Juneau, Anchorage and then Fairbanks. The worst thing was we as a result NEVER had a current NEWS PROGRAM/commentary! Also, never had a live sports program.
Rotating out in 1966 to South Carolina from there, my husband gleefully began watching professional football, having been a good player in high school. As a Wise Wife, envisioning a lot of lonely Saturdays and Sundays if I didn't get in gear, I learned to love it, too..:)
When we lived in Winston-Salem, SC (Jan. 1974-Dec. 1977), our neighbors were from Pennsylvania; of course rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. (It was Tom Landry's Heyday with the Cowboys, so we chose to 'torment' them by rooting for them!)
I thus know Pittsburgh will be in the Super Bowl this Sunday, and their fan's signature is waving Terrible Towels from the stands, as a "We're with you!" message...

Well if he was wearing that hat and coat in Iraq, when that picture was taken, he's crazy :)
I took that picture in June of 2004. It was probably nearly 100 degrees by that point :)

It may be that they reached their maximum bandwidth for the day. Some have commented on seeing it....so I'm pretty sure it works.

"Trooper" was named to honor jmpmstr4u2's "H" Troop Cavalry's Scout. Greg absolutely adores Corgi's.... he grew up with them, as we raised them. I'm thinking seriously of getting a red and white little gal to mate him to.
Yes, we're so glad that he is stateside. I'm hoping that we can get down to
Fresno to meet everyone soon.

Chachi looks like he might be Corgi and Taco Bell's ankle-biter...sure does have Corgi ears. Corgi's are natural ankle-biters, it is bred in them for herding cattle and originally geese in Wales. They've been around since about 920 A.D. They also used them now for companion dogs, as they are very loyal and always want to stay right by their master.
Dolly you mentioned that you didn't know what they were....well, your new 'lil gal looks to be one. She's beautiful and red-headed to boot. When Trooper was little, we thot that he might turn out a red-headed Tri(his papa was), but it's a good thing with his name of Parkys "H" Troop(Trooper) Stetson, he turned up with a black Stetson on his head. ;-))
We thought about the name of Parkys "H" Troop Scout, but the Sire for the litter was WR the Genuine Stetson and then when I asked Greg what brand of hat the Cavalry wore, he said, "Stetson," ever since the 1800's. The name just seemed to fit better.
Mama_Bear is that the little cutie that you had in the playpen at the
FReeper picnic last Fall? Sure is a cute little rascal and sure has grownl!!
