WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police at the U.S. Capitol arrested anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Tuesday, shortly before President Bush was to give his annual State of the Union speech, a police spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman, Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, said she had no immediate details.
Sheehan had been invited to be a guest at the address to a joint session of Congress by U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
Sheehan, who became a central figure for the U.S. anti-war movement after her soldier son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush's Texas ranch.
CNN said Sheehan was arrested after unveiling a banner and was being held on Capitol Hill for about an hour, which would keep her away from the address, which was set to start at 9 p.m. EST.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.

This from Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of U-S Capitol Police.... Cindy Sheehan was arrested in the gallery of the house floor tonight and charged with demonstrating in the Capitol--a misdemeanor. ...Sgt. Schneider says she was wearing a T-shirt with a slogan on it and was asked to cover it up. Sheehan did not cover it up and she was arrested. ....She is being processed at Capital Police hd and is expected to be released at some point tonight. The misdemeanor charge carries one year in jail. .."

She was already on probation of some kind with DC for her arrest at the White House in September; and IIRC, the judge gave her a talking-to about keeping her nose clean or she would do jail time.

Why is anybody giving this silly b*tch any attention at all? The woman has disgraced the honor of her son. She should be shamed, not glorified.
It is my gut feeling that Sheehan would never had gotten in if she had had the banner on her person. It is my guess that she had some high-level confederates that had smuggled in the banner days if not weeks ago.
There will be no investigation but if there was you can be damn sure that the Congressional member that invited her was at the center of the banner smuggle.

If Sheehand is arrested and charged with a crime, whomever invited her should be charged as an accessory. There's NO way he/she could not have known what Cindy was going to try and do. It's been all over the 'Net that she was going to try and disrupt the State of the Union address.
