There's an axiom in the intelligence world that a new threat will arise against the United States (and the world) every 25 years.
All you have to do is count the years from 1990, when the Soviet Union fell - and know that we will need more ships, more covert agents, more interpreters, more of everything, by the year 2015. The Navy is allowing Rummy to push through some serious ship cuts that the US will regret, but regret too late to do anything about it.
I love Rummy but I do not agree with him entirely on his "transformational" theory for the Military. It is flawed, IMHO.

I am sure he was joking because seeing the interview between the 2 of them they were constantly digging at each other.
IMHO they both knew how far to go, maybe over the top for some people's liking but I got the feeling that there was a deep understanding and love between them even if they did not agree on several issues.

Kristol whined that he did not say enough about Iran and permanent tax cuts.

'I would have walked down and belted them..'
LOL! I always tell my husband, the Senators are very lucky I don't live in DC. I would camp outside their offices.(I'm probably lucky too...I might become too known to the DC police).
To: snugs
I wish someone would tell my mother that. She thinks I've been brainwashed.

CNN showed 74% approval...but Paul Begala said he needed to have better than that. Wolfie said of course that number reflected those who had actually watched the speech and they were probably partisan.
Headline? Bush fails to walk on water.

I believe, from watching countless reports and opinions spouted by Kristol, that he is supremely jealous that he doesn't get the attention the President does. I really believe that he feels superior to most people, and he can't stand not getting all the attention he feels he deserves. He's one of those, "Yeah, BUT....." kinds of people.

It's Thursday:
The annual National Prayer Breakfast will be co-chaired by Sen. Norm Coleman, the first time in memory that a Jew will lead the gathering, and at a time when some rabbis have expressed misgivings about what they see as the event's overtly Christian tone.
The breakfast is staged without government funding every year by the Fellowship Foundation, an evangelical Christian group. Presidents from Dwight D. Eisenhower to George W. Bush have attended, along with members of Congress and world leaders. This year, King Abdullah II of Jordan will give the keynote speech at a lunch following the breakfast, which is scheduled for Thursday.

For goodness sake Iran is finely balanced if he had said anything too specific no doubt there would have been even more criticism.

Some of us just aren't cut out for public office, 4integrity.
I remember praying that God would never make me marry a pastor. I can't even imagine being in politics! :)

I love Rummy but I do not agree with him entirely on his "transformational" theory for the Military. It is flawed, IMHO. The big flaw in Rummy's transformation is that it leave us totally vulnerable to EMP weaponry, and also vulnerable to a billion man march by China.

Good night. I'm crashing as I type. Gotta go to bed.
I have to go to "town" in the AM, so it's going to be an early Morning.
It was a great speech. WE LOVE OUR PRESIDENT!!!
WHAT are we going to do in 2009? I can't imagine.
