Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
And in the evening, we shall see JUSTICE ALito sitting front and center at SOTU Address!
I hope he gets a standing ovation from the Republicans on the floor.
She was trying to say "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
And the only correct word she got out was protest.
"Ahhhhhhhh, ppooooooo-daaaaaahhhh."
Heads up

My wife says when Teddy dies she will bake a huge cake in celebration.
I"m writing this without finishing the thread or knowing what happens, but up to this point, Specter has repaid Bush 100% for Bush's support in the general election, and if Chaffee votes for cloture, as he said he would, that shows you the CRITICAL importance of winning the seats, even with a wimp.
Well Said!
And even though Specter is often an ass, he ramrodded these hearings like an ironmaster, and repaid Bush 100% for supporting him.
I missed everything after 3PM until Boxer was on the floor. I am now going to go back and read the portion I missed.
Rush, today, was saying it is likely one of the FIRST things that will be reviewed is Campaign Finance Reform, with Roberts taking the Rehnquist "no" vote and Alito voting "no" contrary to O'Connor's "aye" vote. In other words, CFR is going to be just the FIRST casualty of this victory. Maybe (hope-a, hope-a) Kelo will be next.
If she wanted to quote Shakespeare, a more fitting and true quote would have been "Now is the winter of our discontent."

Your original startment was not an inferential argument, but the assertion that:
"If you go down to political, it also shows Hitlery as the favorite to win the 2008 election, too."
That is flat out false (as Hillary is only listed as the favorite to win the Dem nomination) and you should admit it before you go on to make a second, inferential argument.
As to your inferential argument, it is faulty:
A will likely beat B
+
B will likely beat C
DOES NOT EQUAL
A will likely beat C
ERGO, so far you're 0 for 2.

The Supreme Court's jurisdiction regarding this case is discretionary, and it's unlikely it will take up the case, especailly inasmuch as it already turned the case down.

The fact that a state judge found that Terri is in a permanent vegitative state doesn't mean she is in a permanent vegitative state. Human beings, including judges, are fallable. That's why we have federal habeas review with regard to death-penalty cases, and that's why we should have a similar federal review here. The stakes are high because life is important, anf the 14 Amendment protects life.
You would see that, Chris, if you were not so unbalanced and emotional on this issue. Maybe you should try to think about this issue, instead of merely expressing your feelings.

Next time you get a half-thought vanity, don't start a thread about it
".....but we are witnessing the political death of an entire party."
Hope so pard, but what will rise in the empty place? Do you think the dims will get a clue and actually root for the USA? And who will lead since the moderates and the loyal opposition are beaten down by the leftist moonbats?
Don't assume that things will align like they did in, say, 1970. It wouldn't be outside historical experience for the GOP to remain a kind of monopoly party for 3-4 election cycles.
Yes, I can see your point. However, something needs to fill the airless hole that the dims have created for themselves.
I expect a lot of crying and hand-wringing, perhaps a "summit" of the dim leadership, if you can call it that, but the lefties are so entrenched, I can see no alternative for them except falling on their swords or redifining themselves. Personally, I do not believe that they have the stones or a clue, nor a leader personality that can show them the road into the light.
She's a great example of the old saying..."If I could buy her what she's worth and then sell her what she thinks she's worth, we could all retire in style." The 'lady' has a LARGE opinion of herself!
Well, I've just spent the last few hours reading Dem sites.
In some ways, they sound like we do when betrayed. Remember the Bolton Committee vote?
A lot of what they say is emotional. Like, claiming they'll never vote Democrat again. Yeah, right, and they were going to move to canada after the elections in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
A few points of humor I stumble across. Liberals taking Rush's advice to heart to rebuild from bottom up, even if it takes decades of loss. Hope they abandon that strategy, too rational. Funny though. Knowing how they hate Rush, they are taking up his advice. Even referencing Goldwater.
Second point of amusement, someone quoted the President's famous quote as a rallying cry for change. Paraphrase: With Us-Or-Against Us.
So, they are taking Rush's advise and quoting the President. Now we truly know this development has sent them around the bend. LOL
heck, someone referenced the "religious right" somewhat positively in terms of how they went about gaining a voice in the Republican Party as a model to follow.
Democrats are taking the brunt of temper right now, far more than their usual suspects. LOL
As for me, WHEN Alito is confirmed, I have come to decision Republicans in the Senate have earned re-election. I have two policy concerns that override everything. Judges and the WOT. As much as I detest we STILL have judges being filibustered, two Supremes trumps it a bit. Should we have a third opening, we need more Reps to cover the RINO defections (cause the 5th seat is what will really matter to them) and the Hagel's etc... Exception? Now, if Ohioans can ever get themselves together and challenge DeWine I'm all in favor. I haven't renounced that position. However, Chafee, uh-uh. Whether Laffey or the General election, Chafee should go. No ifs, ands or butts. he only voted to break cloture because Laffey is challenging him. With a sealed election for six years he'd be entirely useless.
