Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. My dear Senator Menendez, YOU are supposed to represent the people... SC Justices are supposed to represent THE LAW.
Just so we're clear on that....

Where are you seeing CSPAN counting cloture votes? The votes that they are counting on the screen are for the nomination.

I imagine Bush would put Alito right up in the balcony next to LauraNo, if he's sworn in there's a seat for him in the front row. Would like to see Mrs. Alito up there with Laura though.

"There should be a couple of Lear jets just sitting around at the Las Vegas airport that he could hotwire or charter."
Senate ethics rules dictate he would have to pay that money (for a learjet trip) back from his office travel account since the trip was for official business. He cannot accept travel as a gift.

2006-01-30 - MAYOR LAFFEY UNSURPRISED BY CHAFEES LACK OF LEADERSHIP

MAYOR LAFFEY UNSURPRISED BY CHAFEES LACK OF LEADERSHIP
Mayor Laffey lamented Senator Chafees announcement this morning that he will vote to oppose Judge Alitos nomination in the Senate and cited the Senators announcement as further proof of Senator Chafees extremist positions.
It has been almost a week since the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to send Judge Alitos nomination to the full Senate. Almost all Republican Senators have announced their positions, and numerous moderate Democrats have come out in favor of the nomination. Senator Chafees indecision and now, his opposition, leaves one to wonder what his true intentions are.

I hope Hoosiers are paying attention! Bayh is NOT a moderate. We are paying attention. But he was just re-elected with something like 70% of the vote. *sigh*

This is perfect! The other Election, the Dims pulled their candidate at the last moment and put in Lautenberg because they were being blown out of the water and Menendez looks even worse!Might be a pickup of a Senate seat for us this November.
