No. According to him, all the Palis want is to live in peace, dignity and prosperity...and that is just not true. They want to eliminate Israel, period.

He has absolutely no inclination to do so for the Alito nomination.
Mr. MCCAIN: I will make one other comment. We are dragging out this process for no good reason. We all know what the outcome of the vote is going to be. We have other pressing business, including lobbying reform, which needs to be taken up by this body. We have pending the issue of the PATRIOT Act. There are many issues we should be addressing and at least beginning to work on, rather than dragging out this process. I wish my colleagues on the other side of the aisle would see fit to bring this process to a close and let us vote on Judge Alito and move on to other pressing issues.The fact that there will probably be a large number of votes on that side of the aisle against Judge Alito doesn't upset me as much as it saddens me. I didn't agree with the judicial philosophy of Justice Breyer or Justice Ginsburg. I knew that Justice Ginsburg worked for the ACLU and held liberal views. But I also believe that elections have consequences. The President of the United States--at that time, President Clinton--nominated them as his selection. There were very few--a handful of votes against either Justice Breyer or Justice Ginsburg.
When there is a large number of votes against this highly qualified individual, it is a symptom of the rather bitter partisanship that exists in this body today, and I regret that very much. There are pressing issues, such as Iran and their rapid acquisition of nuclear weapons, which spring to mind. We have to sit down in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect and work on these things. I will be very sad when I see this large vote against this good and decent American, but, more importantly, I will be upset because we continue to engage in the kind of partisanship which has even been ratcheted up lately on lobbying reform, when we should be working out a common approach and a common cure for a significant illness that afflicts this body and the Capitol today.
I hope we can finish this debate as soon as possible, vote on Judge Alito, and then move forward.
Maybe it is just me...but I don't see "global warming", or climate change...or whatever they want to call it...
as a winner for the dems in elections...who cares???

True. Didn't catch the program on Jan 25, but did catch the email segment a day or 2 later on BOR in which people were commenting on his segment on Air America and how Glaser (Real Networks' CEO) was pouring millions into Air America. One said they were going to immediately remove Real Player from their PC.

The left-wing radio network Air America has been plagued with low ratings and financial troubles. Radio observer Brian Maloney reported that host Al Franken is one reason Air America may be headed for a crash landing. "Franken's salary has gone up and up - his base salary is $2 million a year. Other guys with the same audience are making one-tenth of that." Maloney claimed the network is being propped up by wealthy entrepreneur Rob Glaser. "He's writing big fat checks to keep Air America on the air. I don't see how they can keep this going - in 2008 Franken's salary goes up to $3 million." The Factor added that Franken's latest ratings show a definite southerly trend. "In Los Angeles Franken's program is down 33% in the key demographic segment of 25 to 54. In San Francisco he's down 24%, in Boston 42%, and in San Antonio they dropped the entire network. But we have one far left guy, Rob Glaser, keeping this network on the air by just kicking money in and paying all the bills."
Unintended consequences. Alito is not considered radical or out of the mainstream by most Americans. If Democrats succeed in blocking the vote or defeating Alito, they will generate more people to realize how out of touch with reality they are, thus helping future Republican nominations.
Great point. Of course, they'll have some spin like it all went through 527s, which are totally legal under CFR.
