Employees at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, Mich., will have to drive Ford Motor Co. vehicles to work or park across the street, the plant manager announced earlier this week.
The new parking policy, which is scheduled to take effect Feb. 1, was instituted by plant manager Rob Webber just as Ford reported losses of $1.6 billion from its North American auto operations in 2005 and Monday announced plans to close 14 plants and cut 30,000 jobs as it tries to reverse losses and respond to declining U.S. market share.

Perhaps Ford workers don't buy Fords, for the same reason Public School teachers send THEIR kids to private schools...

I agree. Who wants a toy car that only your great-grandmother would drive. No wait, Volvo has that market locked up.
Depending on when you bought your jeep, it may not be a domestic vehicle, but a german vehicle. Diamler Chrysler is based in Germany.
Excellent point. Morale at the plants probably already sucks, now you throw in this and it's just going to make it worse.
Not a good environment to build quality vehicles in.

Maybe they are like restuarant employees who don't eat where they work. They see what goes into the product and say, no thanks.
"Ford had a deal with Hitler in WWII."
Nonsense. But he did sell Stalin a tractor plant and the rights to manufacture the Model A Ford.

Apparently only about 10% of the employees at that plant drive non Ford products.

Come on now, problem resolution isn't a part of this exercise.
It's all about grasping at straws with execs and probably union leaders trying to squeeze out every last penny before they get submerged.
Silly you! ; )
Hmmm..If that car picture was taken in New Mexico, I used to live in that trailer park in the late 70's

But some of these employees take an active part in building the "junk' they won't buy... I just see some hypocrisy here
Maybe we should return to employees getting part of their pay in script and having to shop only at the company store.

Lotsa funny ones here.
And it is that type of attitude that reflects the product that is being produced..
Or they simply exercise their consumer rights and select from other products that better suit their needs. Why does it seem that Toyota is always coming up with the innovative stuff. And if not Toyota, other companies besides Ford and GM. In fact, hell, GM was a decade behind on many things only five years ago. They had '80s styling throughout the '90s, which IMO was the big impetus for the slide. Once you get your loyal customers going elsewhere, you'll have to fight twice as hard to get them back.
I was being very reasonable with a problem that I had with my GM truck. In short, for $300 bucks, and having been a lifetime GM purchaser, GM told me they didn't care if I went elsewhere after I made it clear that if they didn't cover that part of the repair cost after I went out of my way to save them five times that, then I would never buy GM again. Well, here I am, ready to buy another vehicle, and it won't be a GM simply b/c of that. So for $300, they cast off a customer permanently. I probably would have kept buying GM in spite of their current issues. At least for trucks.
