Wolf Blizer on "The Situation Room" reported that the republicans have more then enough votes for cloture, as many as 70. Looks like Kerry jumped the gun a bit too fast.
In a few days he'll claim it was all a flashback to the horrors he endured in Vietnam. McCain will attack Republicans for smearing a fellow vet, and it'll all be over.
Nelson from Nebraska, Johnson from South Dakota, Byrd from West Virginia.... who else from the Dems is on board?
Hell, he might even get another Purple Heart out of it. He can get Kennedy to write up the recommendation.
More like a spectacular drop!
Not sure. I've been out a goiod bit of the day. But I'll bet that at least a few red state Dems won't want to take one just to provide Hillie with some cover.
[Kerry was just posturing for the Kossacks. He knew there'd be no filibuster; Reid had already said so.]
But the Kossacks are so upset that they are tearing him and each other apart for this.
The Kossacks are yelling "He thinks we're a cheap date. He knew he could just call this one in from the ski slopes and earn some brownie points with us, even though Reid already told him it was no use."
But guess what: The Kossacks ARE a cheap date for a Massachusetts senator.
When the clintons are done with Cut and Ran Kerry he will be able to star in Brokeback Mounting!
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
LOL. Yep, that's the kid.
D. O. R. K.
Yep. Kabuki for the anti-war Left -- he's trying to beat Feingold to that slim opening versus Cankles.
Johnson (SD), like Nelson (NB), Landrieu (LA), Pryor (AR) and Conrad (ND), said he opposes using a filibuster, a parliamentary maneuver that allows unlimited debate, to block a Senate vote on Alito. With those five, Republicans have the votes to stop any filibuster.
I found the answer to my question. See my post directly above.
Kerry makes an a** of himself yet again. But then we know this was all about lip service to try to endear himself to the far left wing kooks of the party for the 08 Dem. primary. Like everything Kerry does, it was all fluff and no substance. He knows he couldn't have sustained a filibuster. He can't even get it up. And if he had we'd have used the nuke option. This is all about making himself look good.
How is Kerry going to filibuster from Davos, for pete's sake?!
Thanks. Landrieu's too busy trying to hose American taxpayers to want to worry about a filibuster I'll bet.
I predict that Alito will help get Roe vs Wade better "defined" as needing a legislated "term limit" at which point a woman's right to "privacy" no longer exists on the matter of abortion.
Roe vs Wade will stand...but the states will get to define the term limits...unless a federal law can be made.
The day the Supreme Court does this, the MSM will go crazy, shouting that Roe vs Wade was overturned!
But the people of the country will hear the words "term limits need to be defined legislatively"...and agree...
...noting that a lot of FReepers will want the term limit to be conception.
He should just give up while he's not ahead.
Salazar and Lincoln also said they would not support a filibuster - puts it at 61+ for cloture.
Kerry in Davos Switzerland indulging in mastubatory fantasy about his political power that is actually non-existent and has never been much anyhow....same Kerry.
Wonder is the Mozambique Mama is with him?
What's the frequency Kenneth.
Dumb @ss also works well in most conversations about Kerry too. Mix it up a little. Have some fun.... LOL
