Wolf Blizer on "The Situation Room" reported that the republicans have more then enough votes for cloture, as many as 70. Looks like Kerry jumped the gun a bit too fast.

I admit to occassionally flipping to CNN during the Situation Room.
I started out not liking that show much, but they cover a lot of important stories that Fox doesn't sometimes...and usually the bias isn't too bad.

---Once again, Kerry's unerring political instincts serve him well.---
heh. kerry's support = kiss of death. if a filibuster was anything but a loser, hillary would be supporting it.

"How is Kerry going to filibuster from Davos, for pete's sake?! Amusing isn't it? Kerry being out of the country is just more proof he really is just "fili-blustering"

During prime time commercials tonight, it will be fun to flip over to C-Span2 to hear snippets of the gaseous senators bloviating away.
Inhofe is on now, and he's doing a great job refuting what some of the democrat senators said, one by one.

U.S. Democratic Senator from Boston, John Kerry, left, and his wife Teresa Heinz-Kerry attend a plenary entitled 'Muslim Societies in the Modern World' at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday Jan. 26, 2006. The second day of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting promised a blend of celebrity and brass tacks talk of the issues facing the global community, ranging from security against terror to advancing human rights and the struggle against poverty and disease. This fool's representatives were all over DU the other night reassuring the whack-jobs that Kerry was supporting a filibuster. He's just pandering to the extreme left wing to get back in their graces after he did not take the 2004 election to the courts. Kerry is so desperate that he is a blogger on KOS now...

From another post... The agreement that Frist and Reid entered into provides for skipping the cloture vote, if conditions indicate. Monday 4:30 p.m.
Assuming of course that Frist, the amiable patsy, gets final permission Dingy Harry Reid & the DimWits to call for a vote. Geez, does Frist have any controlling authority or say as the Senate Majority leader? What a pathetic wimp. He ought to have called for the vote tomorrow Friday at the latest. Any senators over at the boondoggle Davos summit would have to fly back or skip the vote as an indication of how really serious they are about this. C'mon Frist, grow a spine for once in your life!

But in some sense, we lose because the RATs succeeded in changing the constitution. Only because the cowardly Repubs let them get away with it. All it takes is for cowardly Rebubs to change the archaic foot-dragging Senate rules. If they had any guts they could have slammed the door shut on the Dims obstructionism and delay tactics long ago.

Kerry has gone from filibuster to fullabluster.
Please stay in Switzerland John with the guilt-ridden rich appeasers. Kerry is profoundly useless.

I have a different take than most. I believe Kerry knew a fillibuster was impossible and put out the word to burnish his credentials with the lefties.
