Pets Can Travel With Owners On Midwest Airlines
Yahoo News ^ | Thu Jan 26, 11:25 AM ET

Milwaukee's hometown airline will soon allow canines in the cabin.

Starting Jan. 30, Midwest Airlines customers will be able to bring up to two dogs with them in the passenger compartment.

The dogs must be in a pet carrier small enough to fit under the seat.

Larger animals will still fly cargo.

All pets will earn their own frequent flier miles.

I love my pets... but yowling cats and yippy dogs in the cabin... not sure this is a good idea.

Wonder if they have a 'quiet compartment' they can go put the pet in if the pet is so miserable they are crying and whining and really disrupting the peace.

They should have that for brats.

I prefer the brats fly cargo.

The pets I see being carried in the cabins are always well-behaved. It's a few of the humans who cause all the problems.

I'd think ~most~ little dogs that are used to going places would be fine... It's just some people who might be tempted to bring spoiled precious with them... or people with cats that I think might be a disaster often enough. Even my cat that travels pretty well will yowl if he's in the cage long enough or he's bumped around and tired of it.

Thanks for the warning. Now I know which airline not to take.

Sigh. My cat wouldn't fit under one of those seats.

You're right, of course, cats tend to be a little more reluctant to be carted around than dogs. Plus they can make noises that no earthly creature can imitate.

Under the seat?? Where's PETA?

I don't want to fly with someone's mutt under my seat or next to me.

Wow, I'm going to need a really big shoehorn to get my Rottweiler in there.

Is this big news? When the husband and I went to Seattle for Christmas, there were at least three "mini" dogs on our flight in their carriers. And we were on US Airways.

OH - and completely OT - I have a warning for everyone who books a flight on a US Airways flight that is using a 757 jet. NEVER BOOK YOURSELF IN ROW 7 on the D-E-F side of the plane. Those were the worst seats ever - the backs didn't recline because they were right up against the bathroom, and they actually sat forward a bit...and then when the people in front of you put their seats back - they were in your lap. It was terrible, and they were the worst seats ever. It also smelled, due to the bathroom being right there. < / end rant >

Well, I don't know. I don't travel ~all~ that much lately.

You can ask if your seats are against the bulkhead on any plane or configuration. While the last row before the bulkhead are awful seats... the first row behind the bulkhead are great seats.

So true. I took one of my yorkies on a trip to TX and she was perfect. All I needed to do was put my hand into her open carrier once in a while to reassure her and let her give her licks..and she would go back to sleep. Too bad it's so darn expensive. Cost me $180 for round trip from OH.

The husband booked the seats and he didn't seem to realize where they were. I just couldn't believe how terrible they were...we were stuck in the same awkward position for 3+ hours. I couldn't wait to get out of there!

As far as the puppies on the airplane...I don't know if it's because I live in Phoenix, but it seems everyone takes their little dog with them on the plane...I've seen many of them being walked through the airport..and more than one relieving him/herself on the carpet! Disgusting!
