Salazar calls Justice Thomas "an abomination"
Rocky Mountain News ^ | January 25, 2006 | Ann Imse

Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., today called current U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an "abomination" when compared with the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Marshall, the first black appointed to the Supreme Court, was the lead litigator on the historic 1954 school desegregation case and, as a justice, a champion of civil rights. He died in 1993.

Thomas was the second black appointed to the Supreme Court, and he succeeded the retiring Marshall in 1991 after being nominated by the first President George Bush. Thomas' televised confirmation hearings captured the nation's attention when Professor Anita Hill accused him of sexual harassment, a charge he denied.

As a justice, Thomas has been a staunch conservative who supports states' rights and opposes abortion and affirmative action.

Salazar's comment about Thomas came during a telephone news conference in which said he would not be part of any possible Democratic filibuster to stop a vote on the confirmation of Samuel Alito as a member of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Now stfu and sit down because you've been served - again.

Marshall......as a justice, a champion of civil rights

And here I thought a Supreme Court Justice was supposed to interpret and rule on constitutional issues. What if Scalia championed unborn life? Is that ok?

I bet you're way up on the Cool Dad meter and likely to stay there forever

My kids are a blessing beyond belief. They all have taken to my teachings and ways. I don't see them very much anymore, and I wish I could re-run that part of my life one more time.

I never had any problems with my kids. I just gave them a vision of what life should be, and became a model for it. The rest took care of itself. It isn't complicated, and I am no saint.

Much of the reason that Thomas will NEVER "grow" on the court is the way he was treated by the Dems and the MSM.

While it is true that Thomas might had stayed a steadfast conservative had he been treated well (as Scalia), Thomas's statements since the confirmation make it clear that he feels that he owes them NOTHING (which is why we love him so much).

The Dems and the MSM, might, some day, realize that bashing the daylights out of Republican nominees can only hurt their cases when they eventually get heard.

I have no doubt that Alito is taking notes and will remember the garbage being spewed at him by the Dems, and will always have that to fall back on, when it becomes time to otherwise "grow".

One of my best friends is a toxic waste whistle blower. He beat the snot out of Salazar in court three times. The fourth time Salazar payed him off to shut him up. The toxic waste still remains in the ground a Colorado State University.

That did not stop him from taking money and support from the Natural Resources Defense Council and Robert Redford. He is a scumbag.

He is in office because of Gov. Owens and his bunch of country club RINO's that stabbed Bob Schafer in the back to get Pete Coors elected. Coors only got 38 percent of the base vote at the state convention. The rest is history.

Expect Colorado to become a blue state soon. The Dem's are moving here in droves.

As George Will said at the time, "For Anita Hill to be telling the truth, about 40 other people have to be lying." Plus her lies about talking with Susan Horchner the judge are a matter of record--flat falsehoods. Horchner had moved to California before Hill's allegations even occurred, but she swore she told Horchner about them at lunch one day--an impossibility.

No, Anita Hill lied. Even Joe Biden, an expert on lying himself, believed Thomas over Hill.

I just read my post again, and I am still crying, with tissues. I want to go back and raise those kids again.

I have no idea how I could do it better.

My son is marrying the daughter of a vice president of Hewlett Packard in May and my daughter is marring a son of an Air force General in the fall.

Why I deserve this is beyond me.

I am such a simple man, but I tried to do the best.

I am blessed way beyond what I deserve.

It's obvious from that article that Salazar (and the MSM, I might add) think that Alito is an "extremist".

Then why not filibuster?

Because they will get nuked - as there are enough Reps to do it now - and if they do it now, the nuke will probably stay in place into the next Congress, when lots of Circuit judgeships and probably a Supreme Court vacancy or two will have to be filled.

The bottom line - the Dems are thinking strategically,
expecting to pick up a few seats this year, and be able to beat back the nuke option for the next two years. In line with that, Reid has ordered him to NOT filibuster, and he, of course, complied.

Salazar is more liberal than most people think/thought.

So is Colorado. The urban areas all voted Democrat in the last election, it seems, while the rural areas voted Republican. Colorado's political map resembles the US one - lots of red, but all the heavily populated areas are blue.
