CNNGALLUP SHOCK POLL: ONLY 16% FIRM ON HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT Wed Jan 25 2006 10:50:26 ET

Most voters now say there's no way they'd vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton if she runs for president in 2008 - while just 16 percent are firmly in her camp, a stunning new poll shows.

CNNGALLUP found that 51 percent say they definitely won't vote for Clinton (D-N.Y.) in 2008, another 32 percent might consider it, and only 16 percent vow to back her. That means committed anti-Hillary voters outnumber pro-Hillary voters by 3-1. The poll suggests she can forget about crossover votes - 90 percent of Republicans and 75 percent of conservatives say there's no way they'd back her.

Meanwhile, 46% said they would oppose Secretary of State Rice if she ran for President - a step Rice has repeatedly said she won't take.

That is true but I wouldn't underestimate her. She will do anything to be President and if she won't Bill will do anything to be First man. I think that she could divorce Bill and improve her ratings a lot but it would be temporary. Like President Bush sending a few truckloads of mexicans back across the border. That's increase his ratings a lot too.

My wife went to take her Citizenship test a couple of weeks ago, we live in San Francisco but for some reason her test was in Oakland - land of ebonics; my wife speaks excellent english but she had to ask the African American lady to repeat herself 2-3 times for each question.

If asked about this poll, she will claim that she never pays attention to polls. Ha!

Hillary is the end of the world, America and Western civilization. I think she is the personification of evil, lies and deception.

She's very smart, very clever and should not be taken lightly.

There's a major battle going on between the left and it's partners of Islamofascists, naive Utopians, hippie puppies, fatuous retro PC commie scum useful idiots and Western civilization and it's partners of realists, pragmatists and those that believe in empirical reality and self reliance. It's the "victims" against the producers.

"Lazy, worthless, parasitical, whining, useful idiot victims of the world unite!"

Gosh, I sound like Ayn Rand.

I'm not so sure Bill wants to be "First Man". He is so narcissistic that I think it would gall him no end to share the spotlight with her heinous and God forbid she had higher poll ratings than he did. He'll figure out a way to undermine her and continue his globe-trotting lifestyle.
As much as I think he would love to have the perks of living in the WH back he's not ready to take a back seat to her. Be rest assured ,that with her as CIC he would NOT be co-President!

Obviously the 'rats would still voter for her in general election. Hillary's problem is in the primaries. The Democrats have made a deal with the devil by appointing Dean as DNC chair and getting into bed with Soros and the MoveOn/CodePink crowd. The moonbats are in the driver's seat and Hillary's faux centrism just isn't going to fly with them. They want someone in the McGovern mold.

I agree that we can't get complacent. Anything can happen between now and '08. There is no reason, however, to shake at the sound of Hillary's name: She has big negatives, trouble with her base, and is utterly charisma free.

If we run a solid Conservative with some personal appeal we will win. If we run a wishy-washy RINO like McCain we are setting ourselves up for trouble.

Condi is addressed in the last sentence which appears she isn't faring much better. Perhaps the US is really not ready for a female president. But I'd rather vote for a hawk Republican female than a pacifist female Democrat.

The poll suggests she can forget about crossover votes

True as far as I can tell. Most everybody I talk to that has an opinion about the Hildabeaste either likes her or hates her. Nobody starts their answer with, "Well,..."

IMHO, if she runs at all, she won't make it through the primaries. Too much baggage. Too many handlers. Too scripted. Too "slick," and I'm not referring to Bill :) Too shrill. Etc.

There's a bunch of stuff about the Hildabeaste that's gotten shoved under the carpet. To name three, Foster, Travelgate, cattle futures. I believe there are people who have solid evidence about her involvement in these things. But they have remained quite so far. But if she tries for prez, they may feel a need to speak out. (One can hope :)

Actually, I hope she knows they know and will save this country a lot of unnecessary grief by not running.

At least a third of the country would vote for Stalin or Hitler if they ran as Democrats. This poll is simply unbelievable.

I would feel more sanguine if the Clintonistas had real jobs instead of hanging around DC waiting for their next gig such as Begala and Carville.
