COMMITTEE VOTE TRANSCRIPT PING!!!!

I found this link at the Washington Post's website.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/24/AR2006012400563_pf.html

If the link doesn't work (it is to the Print Edition), go to www.washingtonpost.com, and look down towards the bottom of the page for "Continuing Coverage of Alito" and Click on "Committee Vote". Apologies if this has already been posted.

Anybody else who can chime in on this?

That was what I heard also. They are not votes, but publicly announced intention.

"The Crushing Hand of Fate"???

Is that where the Fickle Finger of Fate comes from??

More accusations of sexism, racism, bigotry. Same song, second verse, a little bit louder, a little bit worse.

I know one thing...with Cindy Sheehan, and others, embracing Hugo Chavez...and even critsizing America's "treatment" of Chavez...

I dare say...that these same people...and you HAVE to include todays democrat party....would be visiting HITLER, and STALIN and and cursing Bush for wanting to take out THEIR regimes...and free those people in Europe and Russia.

Just like Durbin; he was against Miers and he's upset that some Republicans were against her.........LOL.

You would think he would have been thrilled that a judge who he didn't like was knocked out of the running.

Durbin quoting Springsteen: "I have a familiarity with the Crushing Hand of Fate." Yeah, life has really crushed ole Bruce.

Is that anything like the Fickle Finger of Fate?

Durbin is not going to vote for Alito in part because he is not wholly a fan of Bruce Springsteen.

Durbin's going with the 'Alito is a racist' implications. Purposefully not fleshing out the details of the decisions made by the judge.

Durbin often gets confused and thinks Springsteen is Machiavelli.

Actually, I think the main objection to Meiers was the fact that she was not very well qualified. She had not served as a judge and she had argued no cases before the Supreme Court. She was not considered a great legal mind, although she was considered a competent lawyer. As one of the Rep. Judiciary Committee members said yesterday (paraphrased)- Do you think she could have answered all the constitutional questions asked by the committee? Do you think she would have exhibited the almost encyclopedic memory of SC cases that judge Alito did? I don't believe her lack of a "conservative" position torpedoed her. No, it was her lack of qualifications.

I heard that after the senate judiciary voted, c-span took a few callers, 2-independent and 2 democrats that were upset at the dem senators and said they would vote Republican from now on! Democrats are standing on the train tracks yelling so loud that they can't hear the train bearing down on them!

I bet people from other countries think that the ONLY thing that is important in American's lives is abortion.

Didn't you mean to say right of privacy? :-)
