January 25, 2006 -- WASHINGTON Most American voters now say there's no way they'd vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton if she runs for president in 2008 while just 16 percent are firmly in her camp, a stunning new poll shows. The Gallup/CNN poll found that 51 percent say they definitely won't vote for Clinton (D-N.Y.) in 2008, another 32 percent might consider it, and only 16 percent vow to back her.
That means committed anti-Hillary voters outnumber pro-Hillary voters by 3-1.
Men are especially anti-Clinton 60 percent say there's no way they'd back her for commander-in-chief, and that rises to 62 percent among men 50 and over.
Among women, 22 percent say they'd definitely vote for Clinton, but just 11 percent of men agree. Her support is also lower among whites 14 percent are committed supporters, compared with 28 percent of nonwhites.
Even among self-proclaimed liberals, just 33 percent say they'd definitely vote for her.
The poll suggests she can forget about crossover votes 90 percent of Republicans and 75 percent of conservatives say there's no way they'd back her.
Clinton's spokesman, Philippe Reines, brushed off all questions about 2008 polls, good and bad, saying Clinton "remains focused on being the best senator she can for New York."

They look like a couple of Eco-terrorist!
This is an absolutely amazing jump. In Dec. her "would never vote for her number" was about 41! What's happening here is that as the idea of her possibly becoming the president actually comes closer, people are getting focused on it and saying no!
The best thing for us would be for the beast to get the rat nomination. That way we could pull a name out of the phone book on the top line and work on the down ballot races. This is what we should have done in 1972 and again in 1984.
So sad. They were kinda cute in a 70's sort of way when they were young.
That's an insult to Jadis--she's far better looking, and represents a seductive sort of evil.
"Sure, real people won't vote for her, but what about all the dead people, double voters and the like?"
LOL.....!
Ya I forgot about all the democratic "stealth" voters.
I thought that figure to be at least bassakwards. It implies that conservatives would back her more than rinos would.
I've never been one to like Hillary's chances at winning the Presidency [shudder], but I'm still rather pleasantly surprised by these numbers.
Hillary forgot that she lives in the Big House on the plantation.
And what about those Rose law firm billing records hillary???? We're waiting????
Refreshing news from this poll.
That one had me scratching my head too.
"I support HRC running for president in 2008... "
Having either of the major parties nominate a woman is just another step down the wrong road.
The real big negative stuff is not her baggage or her scandals it is Hillary Clinton herself. She is extremely mean, extremely nasty, extremely arrogant, extremely non charismatic, and extremely liberal. No matter what she does to fake it and no matter how the media try to protect her, the majority of real voters would have realize this about her long time before election day 2008. In fact 50% of them already know and 20% are well underway to know this about her. And no, Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton, he is vastly more charismatic, he is much less mean, and he appears much less liberal.
Well said!
"Men are especially anti-Clinton 60 percent say there's no way they'd back her for commander-in-chief, and that rises to 62 percent among men 50 and over."
Yeah. I think it's men who truly need to be frightened by the power this woman is obtaining. Just think about it. She was totally humiliated by her hubby. And yes. She does have men in her court helping her along the way. But what are the odds, that she'll throw them all away like yeaterday's trash when she doesn't need them anymore. And, didn't Hillary rise to power much, much too quickly? Who else in history rose to power, practically overnight?
Good news alert!
The New York RINO Establishment needs to get behind John Spencer. He won't unseat her, but neither will anyone else, so it's best to choose someone who'll force her to explain her positions and statements.
