I hope I'm not spamming to repost something I posted on another thread about MM's advice to us Canuckastanis. Here it is:

331. No person who does not reside in Canada shall, during an election period, in any way induce electors to vote or refrain from voting or vote or refrain from voting for a particular candidate unless the person is
(a) a Canadian citizen; or
(b) a permanent resident within the meaning of subsection 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
The more indigestion the Walrus has about the rise of conservatism in the many more wealthy industrialized nations in the world, the happier I am.

It is a start. Politics is such that as long as politicians are all that are running good sense will be the accident not the rule.
