If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
I lived a little north of there between Mount Pleasant and Bayview in the 1960s.
Here's hoping for Peter Kent!!
I agree with just about every one.
PM Dithers should win his seat again, but by no means will he run away with it -- it might even end up being a close call.
My gut tells me that Brison can lose, but my head says he wins.
Here's my grand, factually-unbased proclamation for the night (as I posted at FD): If any Liberal gets picked off on PEI, we're looking at a big win for the CPC. Doubt it will happen, but I'd love to be wrong.

I'm a Canadian...not ashamed to be called a Canadian...and wouldn't change my name to get kudos from anyone. I've been contributing here for awhile now, who know's if its to anyone's benefit but my own.
If I can be called a lurker for being ashamed of a Canadian calling himself AshamedCanadian then maybe you're right...but i have some Patriotism left...and some belief that we can make this country better, and not just jump in to be the next american State. I've also lived in the US, and i miss it too...but
Canadian/Acadian i am...and proud of it.
I will do one wild Punjabi dance if Dosanjh goes down...he typifies the zero-principles, do/say anything to stay in power mentality of the Liberals.

Same here plushaye!! I'm anxiously looking forward to the Bush/Harper love fest!! It will be a very welcome change. Also my husband and I cast our votes in an area that is ALWAYS Conservative, Kelowna, B.C.
A "riding" is the geographical area that is represented by an MP...sort of what we would call a Congressional district.

You nailed it. Right across the street from the Red Lantern on the north boundry of the cemetary. You might remember the now torn down Dominion Coal silos on the corner of Mt. Pleasant. I'm just west of there. Cheers, eh!
John Pacheco is not going to beat John Baird.
Too bad you felt you had to vote for a spoiler.
:-(
HA!! That is Martin's USUAL face. The arrogance, the snobbery, the evil!! We are attempting to wipe HIM off the map!!
Not only that, but he was the NDP Premier of BC, was he not?
Nice to see you here tonight.

Dosanjh was the leader of the provincial NDP in B.C.(and briefly premier after Glen Clark's resignation)...his move to the federal Libs represents the ideological similarity of the two parties, at least on social issues.
Thanks to Preston, we are at the point we are at TODAY!! God Bless this wonderful man. CO
Good work, Kanawa!
Will you be on line later?
