I actually believe that liberating the severely impoverished and oppressed North Koreans would be much more to their delight than anyone in the Middle East.
Most NK's long for the unification of the peninsula and don't like their government, however, they are penned in and more oppressed than any other population on the planet.
North Korea truly is this world's hell on earth, more so than even the worst Islamic nations.
You didn't. That was Chirac's PR advisor, using your screen name...
We were able to make more bombs. It was a close call. The Japanese military didn't want to surrender.
Yep I agree. I meant the joint US-ISraeli to send a message, since the enemy hates both of us and hates us for supporting Israel. Still I agree. We should not even worry about a "coalition of the willing." We need to do it alone if we have to. Israel is the only country aside from Poland that would give 100% backing (even the brits are hesitant).
Thank you Jimmah
Right.

While North Korea is indeed one of the worst places to possibly live, Kim Jong Il's popularity remains enormously high. NK is such a secretive and reclusive country, the people there think Kim is like a god. And no, according to former NOrth Koreans, they don't just say they love Kim out of fear of what the government will do to them. It is GENUINE.
The reason for that is that the North Koreans are the most indoctrinated people on Earth. They know their country is bad, but they are told the rest of the world is even WORSE. In public schools in NK, young children are taught that in the rest of the world, spooky AMerican agents regularly grab children and inject them with AIDS for medical experiments.
While the North Koreans do want to see a unified Korea, they want to see it unified under Kim's communist grip. They also want to go into South Korea to kill the evil American agents injecting Korean children with AIDS.
Iran is a scary situation, but nuclear holocaust against Israel (or us) is even scarier.
It was a close call, but I still wouldn't call it a warning. It was an aggressive act of war against Japan. The military didn't want to surrender, but the leaders were faced with no choice.
Interesting. I've heard stories quite the opposite from NK refugees that have seen not just their brothers or sisters put away, but entire families, including grandparents, etc.
Could coalition forces achieve that in the amount of time it would take Iran and Syria to invade Iraq? 24-48 hours?
That's it in a nutshell. Nutcases shouldn't get a hold of nukes any more than toddlers should get a hold of hammers. Less, even. Can we get a bump here, anybody?
The way it goes from what I've heard is that the people of North Korea fiercely love and are devoted to Kim Jong-il, UNTIL a family member commits a crime and is arrested by the government. Then a person living there knows that their loved one/family is likely dead, and that they will be next because they are a family member.
So the decision they are faced with is stay in NK and face certain death, or leave North Korea and face PROBABLE death from the evil American agents (they are taught the rest of the world is worse, remember).
But then, if they finally escape, they realize all they've ever been told from the NK schools is lies.
Leaflets Dropped On Cities In Japan
Leaflets dropped on cities in Japan warning civilians about the atomic bomb, dropped c. August 6, 1945
TO THE JAPANESE PEOPLE:
America asks that you take immediate heed of what we say on this leaflet.
We are in possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man. A single one of our newly developed atomic bombs is actually the equivalent in explosive power to what 2000 of our giant B-29s can carry on a single mission. This awful fact is one for you to ponder and we solemnly assure you it is grimly accurate.
We have just begun to use this weapon against your homeland. If you still have any doubt, make inquiry as to what happened to Hiroshima when just one atomic bomb fell on that city.
Before using this bomb to destroy every resource of the military by which they are prolonging this useless war, we ask that you now petition the Emperor to end the war. Our president has outlined for you the thirteen consequences of an honorable surrender. We urge that you accept these consequences and begin the work of building a new, better and peace-loving Japan.
You should take steps now to cease military resistance. Otherwise, we shall resolutely employ this bomb and all our other superior weapons to promptly and forcefully end the war.
EVACUATE YOUR CITIES.
ATTENTION JAPANESE PEOPLE. EVACUATE YOUR CITIES.
Because your military leaders have rejected the thirteen part surrender declaration, two momentous events have occurred in the last few days.
The Soviet Union, because of this rejection on the part of the military has notified your Ambassador Sato that it has declared war on your nation. Thus, all powerful countries of the world are now at war with you.
Also, because of your leaders' refusal to accept the surrender declaration that would enable Japan to honorably end this useless war, we have employed our atomic bomb.
A single one of our newly developed atomic bombs is actually the equivalent in explosive power to what 2000 of our giant B-29s could have carried on a single mission. Radio Tokyo has told you that with the first use of this weapon of total destruction, Hiroshima was virtually destroyed.
Before we use this bomb again and again to destroy every resource of the military by which they are prolonging this useless war, petition the emperor now to end the war. Our president has outlined for you the thirteen consequences of an honorable surrender. We urge that you accept these consequences and begin the work of building a new, better, and peace-loving Japan.
Act at once or we shall resolutely employ this bomb and all our other superior weapons to promptly and forcefully end the war.
EVACUATE YOUR CITIES.

There, see? The leaflets were the warnings, not the bombs themselves.
You realize we are debating over simple wordplay.
At the time, I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range and my building was close to the airport. Each night, those of us who lived on base could hear C-130 aircraft flying low, but we had no idea what they were doing.
One morning at the office, our building was suddenly surrounded by military personnel and we all became "prisoners." They were not allowed to explain what their training was about, but it was obviously important.
The following week, the world learned about the failed attempt to rescue the American hostages in Iran!
These American members of our military will always be heroes to me. It was not their fault that a dust storm hit their staging area. If the weather had been "normal", over 400 American hostages would have been rescued that day.
Even in the middle of a horrible dust storm, they continued to perform their primary mission. It was not until their aircraft were destroyed, that they were forced to abandon the rescue mission.
These men have never been recognized for what they did, but they will always remain heroes to me.
It's all true and much more. Jimmy Carter's left slanted administration allowed not only Khomeini's savages to seize oil rich Iran and with those oil profits the modern global jihadic movement was created and is threatening World War III this very moment.
The communist Sandinistas were also allowed to take control of Nicaragua, thanks to Mr. Carter, and in turn allowed the Soviets & the Red Cubans a strong geostrategic foothold in Central America, not to mention the Sandinistas deep involvement in illegal narcotics trafficking.
Recall this was the President who was publicly baffled after the Russian horde rolled their T-72 tanks across the Afghan border creating, in part some of the jihadists we continue battling against today.
What do you think of this?
Doctrine for Joint Nuclear Operations
"Executing a nuclear option, or even a portion of an option, should send a clear signal of United States' resolve. Hence, options must be selected very carefully and deliberately so that the attack can help ensure the adversary recognizes the "signal" and should therefore not assume the United States has escalated to general nuclear war, although that perception cannot be guaranteed."
That was a small preview of the type of bearish trending which lies ahead. Short the indexes.
Bump was requested at post #20.
Thank you.
When was that written, before or after Hiroshima/Nagasaki?
