Channel 2 (Anchorage) still opens with a shot of the oil spewing out of the bullet hole. The company I used to work for had a tech that spotted the leak.
Quite the mess, 5 whole acres fouled.

four or five years ago a drunk moose hunter shot up the pipeline and shut it down for a week or ten days. It doesn't take much, and over most of its course the pipleine is out of the ground and easily accessible. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner/more often.
