A Salinas pastor accused of sexually molesting his adopted daughter and a handicapped girl pleaded guilty less than two months after authorities began investigating him.
Donald Domelle, 65, pastor of the Baptist Temple of Salinas, admitted to two felony counts of lewd conduct with a child and agreed to a minimum of 15 years in prison Thursday in a remarkably swift case that kept one young woman and a teenager from recounting in court their stories of repeated sexual abuse at the pastor's hands.

He certainly is.
Ironic, considering his tagline.
You would be surprised at the number of people who have spent their entire lives in church who believe they are saved, yet have never encountered the living Lord. It's so easy to confuse religion with relationship. Once you have encountered the Lord and His Holy Spirit, your life is forever altered. A personal relationship with the Lord does give you the ammunition you need to resist sin. Even then we still slip because of our human nature.
"The pimply-faced boys were another matter altogether. (I ain't talking)"
See, I told you morality was relative. [grin]
Seriously, there is an enormous difference between two teenagers canoodling in the back seat and some hair old guy groping a teenaged girl.
Molestation is molestation, doesn't matter what the sex is. Adults have no business touching kids improperly.
:o) I got to run and try to get a bit of work done. Have a good day.
Amazing and insulting nonsense.
My mother and grandmother talked to me about the need to be alert for such things.
Being alert for evil is good advice notwithstanding the nonsense about the "nature" of men.
lfI don't wish to offend any men (I love em),
You didn't get your wish. Your comments are offensive to the extreme not to mention inane.
but my sainted grandmother told me that men have "urges" they "can't" control,
Your grandmother was wrong about that.
I still think it was good advice.
It's terrible to let evil people off the hook for evil acts because they "can't help themselves".
Particularly the ones designed to troll the site.
And the most obvious irony is that the trolls are allowed to freely push their agenda on a site which openly proclaims a faith in God.
He should have lived in Vermont...he could have gotten 60 days.
The conclusions I have reached are based on facts. The personal posts of the people who have been concluded about. I can't speak for anyone else's tagline.
Particularly the ones designed to troll the site.
And the most obvious irony is that the trolls are allowed to freely push their agenda on a site which openly proclaims a faith in God.
Are you calling MineralMan a troll?
Insulting other posters is hardly proper behavior. You may not like what he has to say, but in saying it he is within the code of conduct agreement we all signed.
It is designed to troll for opportunities to discuss and spread atheism. It is an agenda.
I have said I would refrain from engaging him on this thread because of his thinly veiled threat to involve management, thus I have not pinged him. If you desire any further discussion of personalities, use a private communication.
"I have said I would refrain from engaging him on this thread because of his thinly veiled threat to involve management, thus I have not pinged him. "
I threatened nothing, Protagoras. I said I would not take it kindly if you continued to malign me. I would not. However, unless you egregiously break the rules of FR, I would not "involve management."
You are quite wrong about me. You don't believe that, and that's just fine. But you are still wrong about me.
You have anything to say to me, say it in private, I don't trust you for a second.
"You have anything to say to me, say it in private, I don't trust you for a second."
I don't exchange Freepmail. I discuss things in public, where everyone can see what I'm saying. That way, there is no confusion. Whether you trust me or not is not my concern.
Free Republic is a public forum. I choose to post here, and I follow the rules of the forum. I do not promote atheism in any way. I discuss religious issues sometimes, but respect everyone's right to believe as they choose.
When it comes to the subject of this thread, which is sexual abuse of minors, I don't care whether the abuser is a priest or a policeman. It's all the same to me. A pastor who molests a minor does not represent Christianity any more than a bad cop represents law enforcement. Each is an individual, acting on his own. I do not care whether this guy is a pastor or not. He sexually abused his own adopted child. That infuriates me.
I said nothing, nor implied anything about his religious beliefs. I don't care what his religious beliefs are. My reason for posting the article was to open a discussion regarding how we can send our children out into a world where those we normally would trust are offenders.
I'm not sure what your motivations are for attacking me, but this is not a thread about religion. I am an atheist. I do not hide that. I don't try to convert anyone to atheism. I have no reason to do so.
You will find posts from me in many threads. Most have nothing to do with religion. This thread has nothing to do with religion. It just happened that this sexual abuser was a pastor. That's irrelevant.
Convenient when attempting to have the object of your exposure removed from that role.
Nonsense, it is your reason for being here. Your tag line is a troll.
Thats why doors are left open, even with college teachers talking to students in their offices.
Nonsense, you picked the article to subtly attack Christianity.
You ADVERTIZE it as a trolling technique.
I don't try to convert anyone to atheism.
Of course you are.
I have no reason to do so.
Self affirmation.
"Thats why doors are left open, even with college teachers talking to students in their offices."
It's a really good idea. Billy Graham, in his wisdom, never allowed himself to be alone in a room with a woman who was not his wife. It was a rule he followed very carefully.
No accusation of untoward contact was ever made against this great evangelist. He was a wise man.
Try as you might, Protagoras, you'll not get me to click Report Abuse. It's not my style. I can deal with situations right here on the forum, in public.
You are incorrect in all your accusations about me. That is my last word on the subject in this thread.
