Al-Qaida targets Alaskan pipeline Muslims urged to launch attack from Mexico and Canada
The Province ^ | Jan 20, 2006 | Matthew Ramsey

B.C.'s energy sector is on heightened alert after an al-Qaida-affiliated Internet blog message called on Canadian and U.S. jihadists to attack an Alaskan oil pipeline.

The 12-page posting targets the Trans-Alaska Pipeline specifically and energy infrastructure in California and Mexico in general. It was discovered and translated from Arabic Dec. 30 by the Washington-based SITE Institute.

The posting advocates riddling the iconic pipeline with bullets, blowing it up and causing large fires to complicate repair efforts, and attacking ocean-going tankers or fuel depots in Valdez.

"The most suitable candidates for these operations are our American Muslim brothers who live on the land of trash . . . Also, we can add to this jihad group any other groups who can reach the American terrorist regime, either directly or through neighbouring countries, like Canada or Mexico," the posting says.

While refusing to confirm or deny any investigations that may or may not be under way, Canadian Security Intelligence Service spokeswoman Barbara Campion said the threat has been noted.

"ITAC [the Integrated Threat Assessment Centre] is well aware of the Internet posting," she said.

The FBI has also confirmed the posting and is communicating with relevant American agencies affected by it. FBI officers say the pipeline information and maps included in the posting are readily available online.

All B.C. Hydro facilities have been advised of the threat and security has been escalated to "a guarded state," said spokeswoman Elisha Moreno.

"It's one step above where we operate normally," Moreno said, adding that employees at 30 hydroelectric dams, two gas-powered thermal plants and one combustion turbine station have been asked to be more vigilant.

Scott Webb of Terasen Gas said the utility regularly conducts air, ground and marine patrols of its rights of way where 43,000 kilometres of pipeline (including 3,000 km of high-pressure pipeline) is buried in B.C.

Terasen is aware of the posting and is reacting, Webb said.

"We obviously take security very seriously, monitoring threat levels on an ongoing basis," he said. Terasen maintains 24-hour pipeline surveillance from its Surrey headquarters and "knows immediately if there are any problems" with the system, Webb added.

That the U.S. and Canadian energy sector are vulnerable is fairly obvious, said a former special security advisor on counter-terrorism in Ontario.

"You've got exposed critical infrastructure in remote locations. Therefore, it is vulnerable," said Scott Newark. "The point of this is to look at the nature of the asset we're talking about."

Access to pipeline infrastructure is relatively easy in Canada and the impact of a major energy disruption would be significant, Newark noted. A single bullet hole in the Alaska pipeline in 2001 saw 300,000 gallons of crude oil leaking out.

Al-Qaida has threatened energy installations and infrastructure in North America in the past, added Dr. Martin Rudner, director of the Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies at Carleton University.

"The real question is: Does the adversary declare the intention to attack the pipeline?" Rudner said. "If it's serious, it's very serious. If it's fraudulent . . . there is [still] no question our energy sector is under threat.

"Terrorists intend to hurt us. They don't intend to play games."

More fuel for the speculators to send the price of oil further through the roof.

Also noteworthy, and all but ignored by our MSM ...

Three terror warrants served against Algerian suspects
23-12-2005

Naples, (ANSA): Three Algerians were served with arrest warrants in Italy on Friday on suspicion of links to international terrorism .

Two were arrested in Salerno and a town near Catanzaro in Calabria, while the third warrant was served in jail on the alleged ringleader of their suspected cell .

The two men arrested Friday were dentified as Achour Rabah and Tartag Sami .

The man already in jail has been named as Yamine Bouhrama. He has been in custody in Naples since November 15. Police said the three were suspected of ties with the fundamentalist Algerian militant group known as the Salafist Group for Call and Combat .

The Salafist Group - known by its French initials GSPC - is fighting for the creation of an Islamic state in Algeria and has declared allegiance to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network .

Italian police collaborated with other police forces in the operation, Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said. The "brilliant" operation, he said, confirmed that Italian police and intelligence services were making "assiduous" efforts to foil terror threats against Italy and Europe .

At the time of Bourhama's arrest in mid-November, investigators said he was a terrorist operative ready to carry out an attack .

Police wiretaps picked up a conversation following July terrorist bombings in London in which Bouhrama and an unidentified person talked about "finding a ship like the Titanic", packing it with explosives and killing 10,000 people in Italy .

In a separate conversation after July terrorist attack in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, Bouhrama was recorded as saying that "soon there'll be an even bigger celebration" .

Police searched Bouhrama's home, turning up material containing Islamic extremist propaganda but no weapons or explosives .

Bouhrama was said to have contacts in Norway, where he had apparently lived under false ID thanks to documents obtained in France .

Rabah and Sami, the two Algerians arrested on Friday, are believed to have been Bourhama's chief aides in plotting attacks and mantaining links between cells in southern and northern Italy .

Although Sami had moved to Calabria for work, both were officially domiciled at Capaccio Scala near Salerno, a stone's throw from the world-famous Ancient Greek temples of Paestum. In September in a separate terrorism probe, charges were filed against 11 Algerians suspected of ties to the Salafist Group for Call and Combat .

Investigators said the men were under investigation for international terrorism and that several were already in jail on other charges .

They added that some of the Algerians were included on terror suspect lists drawn up by the European Union, the United States and the United Nations .

Italy, which is a staunch ally of the USA and has troops serving in Iraq, has been the target of numerous Internet threats from purported terrorists .

On the other hand, in remote areas, all the locals know one another, so an outside vistor stands out like a red flag ....

Iran is desperately trying to keep attention off them. The whole WOT is coming more and more into focus as Iran and Syria coordinate with binny and friends.

I'd keep the pressure on Iran. In fact, I'd definitely go after them now. Probably the only thing that stops the West is the Oil Fields in Iran, but whatever, ya gotta bite the bullet sometime...

We can either do it now, or do it later. It is going to be costly at any time. I don't think there is a choice.

Especially if they are riding a camel and have a towel tied around their heads.

I agree the natives can handle it. Given the opportunity, an outsider who tries anything won't end up standing out like a red flag, they'll more resemble a red puddle until their hell freezes over and they find out their virgins are frigid.

Warning to Al Qaida from one Alaskan.

From this day forward, any person caught damaging our pipeline will be shot on sight without hesitation. An Alaskan jury would NEVER convict one of our own for protecting our pipeline.

Your bodies will be wrapped in bacon and soaked in pigs blood.

And then they will be dug up and covered in Pig urine...

And dug up again and fed to pigs...

GET THE POINT !!
