After a delay of nearly a month, a Flagstaff woman accused of being connected with the 1998 firebombing of a logging company in Oregon has been released from jail.
Kendall Tankersley, 28, also known as Sarah Harvey, was released from an Oregon jail Jan. 10 on $150,000 bond.
She is back in Flagstaff, ready to begin taking two classes at Northern Arizona University.
Tankersley, a former employee at the university, was indicted in November by a federal grand jury in Oregon.
She is accused of attempted arson and arson, acting as a lookout, in connection with a fire at U.S. Forest Industries in Medford, Ore., in December 1998.
The fire caused an estimated $500,000 in damage.
She has been accused by prosecutors of being a member of the Earth Liberation Front at the time of the arson. She was one of six people arrested around the country in connection with acts of ecoterrorism.
She is scheduled to undergo an arraignment in U.S. District Court in Eugene, Ore., on Monday.
Aspey ordered Tankersley to be released to her domestic partner, who lives and works in Flagstaff.
Tankersley has a degree in molecular biology and has worked for Planned Parenthood ...

Actually, this was on ABC News Channel 7 in the SF Bay Area. The story ran close to 5 minutes! It stunned me so, that I had to Tivo it and call the wife in!
They very much remind me of the Weather Underground of the 1960's. Mostly products of middle class backgrounds who when confronted with the possibility of long jail sentences simply disappeared. We need to come down so hard on this woman the others will have the fear of God put into them. It's not about just burning something down, it's about burning something down in the name of a cause. How soon before a ski lodge full of people gets torched?

Actually, Channel 5, the Bay Area CBS station ran a very fair balanced section on this last night, 19 Feb..
I never watch the local evening or night news, and I got a call from a younger relative telling me that Channel did a good job.
The section probably ran over 5 minutes, and it never was pro eco terrorist at all. Besides the potential actions in the Sac and N California areas by the eco terrorists, the channel did an excellent job of showing past Alf/Elf acts of eco terrorism.
