Alleged hate crime occurs in Ogg [UW Dorm] (Students spit on LBGT door)

Two University of Wisconsin freshmen appeared in court Jan. 17 facing felony charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property as hate crimes.

The students, Benjamin Chamberlain and Michael Riha, allegedly vandalized the dorm room door of a UW student and LGBT liaison in Ogg Hall Dec. 21, according to court documents.

Also charged and due to appear in Dane County Court Feb. 13 are Purdue University freshman Kevin Cochacki and Auburn University freshman Caleb Moore, both of whom were visiting Riha, their Naperville, Ill., high school friend.

According to court documents, Chamberlain is a U.S. Marine ROTC student, and Riha, Cochacki, and Moore are all members of Sigma Chi fraternity at their respective universities.

They charge him for a hate crime, but yet when this happens to somebody for showing a Republican sticker, the perpetrators are let off scot free. Vandalize a Democratic or Greens sticker, or occoust an antiwar protester, and the same thing above will happen.

They should not be charged with a felony. I do, however, agree that thet should be thrown off campus for this (As so should anyone who does this to anyone else)

When I was in college, about twenty plus years ago, I had a really nice "Keep on Trekking" mural airbrushed on the door of my dorm room. One night, somebody poured a pitcher of beer on it, thus demonstrating the cruel hostility of Society against my people, the Nerds. I was deeply troubled by this, and remain so to this day, to the point I am no longer a practicing Nerd, having acquired a job, a wife, a family, and personal relationships that do not revolve solely around SF and gaming. Inside, I still consider myself to be a Nerd, but am scared to exhibit characteristics that might be considered Nerdish.

As such, please inform Senator Kennedy and Senator Clinton that I expect a big pile of money to comfort me and make me feel good about myself, as that is the real job of the Federal government.

Tearing down the poster repeadetly, spitting on someones door and swearing at them is an appropriate response? Not to mention they were admittedy drunk underage when they did this.

Punish them for destruction of property and underage drinking, not 'hate' crimes.

I agree. If a homo had torn down a sign saying "Homosexuality is a sin" I have no doubt that the individuals who posted the sign would be in trouble, not the homo.

There needs to be a rebellion against this crap on college campuses. Threats to prosecute for "hate crimes" are the way the homo-elite tries to keep the lid on things. As a result, dissenters will be forced into the shadows. What they should do is begin posting pro-family/anti-gay-deathstyle stuff all around campus--but clandestinely. Attempts to squelch free speech by the anti-family gaystapo are illegitimate and need to be resisted using any and all legal means.

I wonder if Detective Carol Glassmaker is a member of the group so traumatized by this viscous band of hooligans and thugs. Imagine, yelling such hate crime filled expletives such as "I hate liberals", and other foul-mouthed epitaphs!! Have they no shame in Wisconsin?
