VANCOUVER, January 17, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new poll conducted by Angus Reid for CBS News has revealed that the overwhelming majority of Americans would like to see greater restrictions placed on abortion.

Thirty-three percent of respondents said that abortion should be permitted only in cases such as rape, incest and to save the woman’s life; 17% said abortion should be allowed to save a woman’s life; 5% said abortion should not be permitted at all, while 15% said abortion should be permitted, but subject to greater restrictions than it is now. In total, 70% of respondents favour greater restrictions. Only 27% said that abortion’s availability should remain unchanged – permitted in all cases.

Angus-Reid interviewed 1,151 American adults by telephone, between January 4 and January 8.

Promising for the future of pro-life issues. Best data I've ever seen.

There's nothing surprising about this. Not many people, when it's put to them honestly, support killing any baby, any time, for any reason. Many don't realize that this is what's required by Roe v. Wade and its follow-on decisions, and so they say they support Roe. However, when they're asked about the details, they really don't.

It's from Canada, it's from LifeSiteNews.com, the exact (push-pull) questions weren't quoted.

This is exactly why the pro-abortion crowd is fighting tooth and nail to make sure that the people never get to decide. Roe took that choice away from the people.

CBS will certainly commission another poll, with the questions worded so the results will come out more to your liking. This one will never see the light of day on the alphabet networks.

Don't worry... in the hands of CBS News, your illusion of a pro-abortion America is safe.

Every poll that I've ever seen has roughly 33% against, 33% for, with the rest favoring a variety of restrictions.

This poll is consistent with most polls that don't pose the Pro Life vs. Pro-Choice question.

It's from Canada

Try the link. It's a poll of Americans. And since when is LifeSiteNews any less credible than CBS News?

How about a new poll that says "Do you believe that abortions kill babies?" I bet we get 90% to admit it. The real whacks will never admit it, even though they know that it's true.

it's from LifeSiteNews.com

You appear to be confused about the difference between actually *commissioning* a poll vs. merely mentioning someone else's poll. Either that or you're just stupid.

A CBS poll of Americans found only on a Canadian website? Why isn't it on CBS's site? Will it ever be? Why is this one from 2003 so easy to find, but the poll in this thread nowhere on their site?

It's ironic! Some of the loudest advocates of abortion are themselves the best arguments for abortion.
