Gay activists in South Africa have vowed to "flood" the country's blood services with blood donated by gay men.
This follows an announcement by the South African National Blood Services that it would not accept donations from men who have sex with men.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance says its members would lie when asked the question: "Have you had male-to-male sex in the past five years?"
The Alliance claims members have already donated 120 units of blood.
It aims to flood the blood services with 70,000 units.
'Offensive'
Alliance spokesman Juan Uys describes the question as "humiliating, offensive and an insult to gay men". He says all blood should be treated equally.
He says the SANBS has already admitted that it uses state-of the art equipment that ensures rigorous screening of donated blood, and therefore they should accept the blood from men who sleep with other men and subject it to the tests.
Mr Uys said the question of risk of HIV infection was no reason to discriminate against gay men.
He says if people were discriminated against based on risk, then South African women between the ages of 18 and 24 should not be allowed to donate, as research shows that they are the group with the highest HIV infection rate in the country.

Ecoterrorists, eat your artichoke hearts out.
OMG, now we have to have equal rights for blood?
Reason number 978,839,724 why I will never go to Africa.
30% of the pregnant women in South Africa have HIV, you going to blame that on the Gays as well?

How accurate - far too many gays and young females are HIV cases. On the other hand, why bother with blood banks anyway, as the natives are all too busy butchering each other.
Between tribalism and Communism, S. African has no future except as a Turd World rathole.
Pity!
"Gay activists in South Africa have vowed to "flood" the country's blood services with blood donated by gay men."
This gives a validity to the term 'homophobia'.
With the Gays...it's all about themselves and their little dramas.
"30% of the pregnant women in South Africa have HIV, you going to blame that on the Gays as well?"
These activists are likely HIV positive themselves. Will you blame them, at least in part, for any increase in the rate of HIV infection due to blood transfusions? They're deliberately subverting the medical system to further their political cause. They're playing God with other peoples' lives as well. It's wrong.
If this is true he has a point.
Examine their motive.
Their motive simply stated is to deliberately spread disease by lying.
They should be arrested for attempted murder, if it's found that they are HIV positives and are donating blood and lying about it.

Concur. Whether it is right or wrong to ban blood from homosexuals isn't the real issue here. It's that they are intentionally trying to donate potentially contaminated blood. Seems to me the right thing to do would be to protest the decision by other methods than lying.
I've hunted in Africa many years ago and haven't been back due to its instability. Probably never will again. The place is lost.

Why are you trying to feed us this red herring? What gays are being blamed for here is intentionally putting a nation's blood supply at risk to make a political point.
Yes.
