A new Zogby poll indicates a majority of Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval.
Respondents were asked if they agreed or disagreed with the following statement:
"If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment."
The poll found that 52 percent agreed, 43 percent disagreed and 6 percent said they didn't know or declined to answer.
"The American people are not buying Bush's outrageous claim that he has the power to wiretap American citizens without a warrant," said Bob Fertik, co-founder of the left-leaning group AfterDowningStreet.org which commissioned the survey. "Americans believe terrorism can be fought without turning our own government into Big Brother."
The poll interviewed 1,216 adults in the U.S. from Jan 9-12, and has a 2.9 percent margin of error.
As one might expect, the respondents' political affiliation played a role in their answer, as 66 percent of Democrats favored impeachment, as did 59 percent of Independents, but only 23 percent of Republicans.
One month ago, one-third of Americans polled by Rasmuseen Reports said they believe Bush should be impeached.
Sure, right, yep. lol
This is where it all gets so so stupid. It's not a Judge's approval that is required, it's adherence to the laws governing the actions in question that is required. So "A judge" is just a dumbed down reference to the applicable rule of law governing the executive branch in a time of war which can override any Judges ruling through a simple claim of national security.
I find this very interesting. I get several Zogby polls via email. One of the standard questions asks you to indicate how you are registered to vote. They probably avoided sending this particular poll to anyone who answered Republican.

Nuff said.
I agree with you completely! :-)
HUNH?
Good post.....The only thing I can add is that we have to assume to trust the president. If a standard was set to do wire taps on suspected Al Qaeda suspects sure, but how does the legal system draw the line to make sure other government agencies don't take this a step further.
I agree with you completely relative to the current situation. Americans are missing the boat completely, they don't accept that Islam is the enemy. The liberals and Islamic disinformation agents are saying that Israel is the enemy and the Bush admin over the people. This is typical rhetoric from the Islamic text book on divide and conquer from within. Provoke and then blame.....
it was a rigged question.....
President Bush wiretapped Americans? I thought it was the NSA that wiretapped Americans. If Bush did it, then perhaps he should be in trouble.
You only need perhaps 700 people to have a statistically sound poll, assuming the sample is representative of the population. 1,216 is plent of people.
A Zotby poll says more people were zotted than ever before in the history of America! What the hell were they thinking!
6) Zogby Failed to Project Winner: 27.3% | Average Error = 3.6
As we all know, Zogby had been on record for months saying that Kerry was going to win this race. Despite his final tracking poll that put Bush ahead by one point nationally, Zogby's polling at the state level reflected his belief that Kerry was going to be the beneficiary of huge turnout - especially among the youth vote. The result is that Zogby missed three of the eleven states he polled in (FL, IA, and NM), had a relatively high error rate across the board (3.8%), and his numbers generally skewed in favor of John Kerry.
Adding insult to injury, Zogby's bizarre election day antics calling for "surprises" in Colorado and Virginia and a decisive 311 electoral vote victory for Kerry suggest he was relying on (not to mention taken in by) the badly skewed early exit poll data.
Let's be honest: Zogby's conduct this year bordered on outrageous. No other independent pollster was out making public predictions of a John Kerry or George W. Bush victory months before hand. And no other pollster decided to wait until 5:30pm Eastern time on election day to post their final numbers.
Sorry, this was from November 8, 2004
The trick or dodge in this poll is the missing information: that Bush is tapping international phone calls (in or out) and not domestic.
The question on the poll assumes all phone conversations, when it is the international calls that are being monitored. AFAIK. If I'm wrong please let me know.

WTH is this doing on WND?
Zogby, the muslim sympathizer, commissions a poll on a subject that leads to the detriment of Muslim fanatics, and the results end up favoring Zogby's preferred outcome. Hmmmm
by the way......did you know that the Kerry campaign received $500,000 for his campaign from the Albanian Mafia.....just for starters...we have video documentation with Holbrooke speaking about receiving the money from the Albanians. The Albanians are known Mafia from New York.....:) The plot thickens......
I was not aware of the Zogby poles....
