Dolphin Needs Prosthetic Tail, Aquarium Says (seeks $100k -african children still starving)

An injured dolphin may be getting a new tail -- if the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida can find someone to make one.
Rescuers found the 3-month-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin last month after it became stuck in a blue crab trap. With the flow of blood cut off, the dolphin's damaged tail flukes fell off after she was freed.
Now, experts hope to fit the dolphin, named Winter, with a prosthetic tail. They said similar devices have worked on dolphins in Hawaii and Japan.
The aquarium is putting out feelers to universities, but the dolphin's tail still needs to heal before a prosthetic device can be designed or attached.
The procedure could cost as much as $100,000.

Clear to me, animals are more important than human beings.
Thank you evolution!

Well heck some want socialized medicine for humans which leads to rationing health care. Wonder when rationing health care for prothetics for dolphins will come up in congressional hearings.

Dolphin Needs Prosthetic Tail, Aquarium Says (seeks $100k -african children still starving) Recalls the following : the British boy band Blue was participating in a group web interview with the British tabloid The Sun shortly after 9-11; the band had been in New York at the time and had witnessed the second plane that hit the World Trade Center. After the other band members had spoken of the horror of the attacks, Lee Ryan spouts off:
Lee Ryan - What about whales? They are ignoring animals that are more important. Animals need saving and that's more important. This New York thing is being blown out of proportion.
Simon- Shut up Lee.
Lee - Who gives a f... about New York when elephants are being killed.
Duncan- Shut up.
Lee - I'm not afraid to say this, it has to be said. Im not afraid to say it and that's why I'm the outspoken one from the band.

A couple of years ago I saw a brief video. Some naturists had spent $50,000 each to rehab 2 young seals (IIRC). They returned them to nature -- the ocean. Within seconds of their release, they were consumed (eaten) by nearby whales.

I know its a "Mammal" but in my world, if it swims, it's a fish. And oysters are edible rocks. :-)
