HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — A man chased by police in a Hoover robbery was struck and killed by a train in Birmingham as two companions were arrested.

Police said 19-year-old Travon Brackett of Birmingham was killed Friday night when he rolled under the train trying to escape officers.

His companions, both 16-year-olds, were charged with first-degree robbery. They were held in the Jefferson County Jail, with bonds set at $80,000 each.

Hoover Police Capt. A.C. Roper says a chase along Interstate 65 and ultimately involving Homewood, Birmingham and UAB police began with an armed robbery in the parking lot outside the Parisian store at the Riverchase Galleria about 8:45 p.m. Friday.

A woman's purse was taken at gunpoint and later recovered from the suspects at the end of the chase.

Question: Does the felony murder rule apply in circumstances of apparent (accidental) suicide, as in this case?

Worst of all, in today's edition of the very liberal Birmingham News, they reported it as a simple "stolen purse" making it seem like the police chased this young man to his death over a purse.

IT WAS AN ARMED ROBBERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
