Clooney: I ruined Kerry's presidential race
Ireland Online ^ | 1/14/06 | Ireland Online

George Clooney is convinced he ruined John Kerry's chances in the race for US president in 2004 - by snubbing an invitation and hurting his feelings.

The Ocean's Twelve actor was one of several screen stars invited to ride on Kerry's election train, but it all went downhill for the Democrat when Clooney stayed away.

He recalls: "Kerry asked me to ride on his train - he had a train going cross-country after he was nominated and some actors went on board. I called him and explained that I couldn't do it. I'd hurt him. I'd actually caused him harm at the polls."

I'm going to be the only one here to say this but I think he could have helped Kerry substantially in the election if he'd been a vocal spokesman. I've listened to George Clooney speak about politics at length and he is an eloquent and passionate speaker in advancing his proudly admitted liberalism. I've never heard him make any mean spirited attacks on conservatives the way his liberal friends tend to do constantly.

In fact, he's been telling his friends on the left to try to bring more well reasoned arguments to advance their agenda and to avoid attacks on opponents. If he convinces them to do this there will be more Democrats elected in the future.

He also avoided campaigning for his father, though his father's campaign was doomed anyway.

Please pray tell -- Who is George Clooney?

And, do I really need to know?

You mean outside of the attack on Charlton Heston recounted in post 60? I've heard him speak, and I think he's a jerk and a dimwit. I hope he'll keep speaking and won't lose a wink of sleep if he does so.

Georges reasoned arguments seem to be his last two propaganda movies.

This has to be a satire.

Please, someone tell me this paper lifted a column from The Onion.

I didn't know Clooney did drugs. Clearly they've affected his mind.

What a braying ass Clooney is. Those who act should keep their mouths shut except when they are acting. [and maybe even then]

Can we get Barbara Streisand to tell the *Hildabeast to bite the big one? One could hope...
