Movie Actor Baldwin Launches Anti-Porn Action, Promises Newspaper Ads

NEW YORK A new sex-oriented business is opening not far from his home outside New York City, and actor Stephen Baldwin is promisiing to stop it, possibly with the help of newspaper ads.

One of the family of Baldwin brother (Alex, Billy, Daniel) actors, Stephen Baldwin has become known as a Christian activist. His home near Nyack, N.Y., has a sign bearing scripture right on his front lawn.

Baldwin, 39, stood outside the "adult entertainment" shop and photographed workers and their vehicles as they got the store ready to open, according to an account in the Journal-News of White Plains, N.Y.

Baldwin told the paper he planned to stand outside the store every day and photograph the license plates of the store's patrons to aid in tracking down their identities. He vowed to take out a full-page newspaper advertisement once a month to publish those names.

"I won't stop until it shuts down," he said. He has said the store will attract crime, lower property values and hurt the quality of life in the largely middle-class town, which is known as something of an artist's enclave.

"I don't want it this close to my house," Baldwin, who lives about a mile away, told the paper. "I'm personally not OK with pornography. I definitely think that it adds to the moral decay or our culture."

Local police "responded to the property last night after Baldwin called them about 9:30 p.m.," the newspaper related. "He said the workers were giving him a hard time for taking photographs. Police told Baldwin he was free to protest and take photographs as long as he was not on the store's property."

The dead one sometimes makes a guest appearance on CSI...(okay, that's cruel).

Both were known for their "excesses" on screen and off. While filming Top Gun they spent an extra $100,000 or something to maneuver the rented aircraft carrier into position to catch the sunset...their sets were notorious for hard partying.

Cruel is right. How many autopsies does a guy have to go through to help a friend?! ;)

We all know that there are no nuns or virgins in Commiewood.

Wonder if they have AA meetings there?

Yeah, AA is a big deal in L.A.

But there is being an alcoholic and having APPETITES. A lot of guys in Hollywood have APPETITES.

Now THAT was a cool link. Thanks!

Appetites. Yeah. That "sounds" like an elite justification buzzword.

Buzzword maybe, but definitely an accurate description.

Fax me some of your business docs (especially those about which you've signed a NCND) and I'll return the favor.

The bottom line is you can believe me or not, either way neither the truth nor my life will change.

Touche`. I guess my gripe isn't necessarily with you it's just that it makes me wonder where the line is in making accusations in public when you can't offer evidence. (Which in this situation, I don't blame you.) Oh well, not my dog in the fight anyway.

Your page indicates that you're a bright, accomplished guy. If you'd like to read a screenplay that I've written and is currently with a solid B+ actor let me know and I'll get it to you.

Wouldn't it be better if he worked on obtaining the passage of a community ordinance against this type of business?

"Not much of a fan of his photogaphic exploits."

I'm not crazy about such tactics. But at least he isn't stalking them everywhere they go, harrassing them with odd phonecalls, making veiled threats against their lives and basically, well, terrorizing them, like some people I know.

It might be worth the discreet investment of a few hundred bucks to arrange for people with the same model car and a similar license plate with two letters transposed to drop in. The odds on such a lawsuit lottery would probably be better than Powerball.

LOL -- I wonder how long it's going to be before the shop has HUGE posters advertising videos of "Threesome" starring Stephen Baldwin

Taking a photo of the store workers, license plates & customers is just stupid.

Besides the fact that most jurisdictions won't give out information about license plates (for good reason -- ever hear of Rebecca Shaeffer?), this is a lawsuit waiting to happen as soon as he makes one transcription error (as I somewhat facetiously noted in a previous message).

All Baldwin has to do is renounce his Christianity and he'd be back on the gravy train.

A few acting lessons would help too.

Hollywood isn't exactly teeming with Shakespearian actors though, is it?

Baldwin could be Laurence Olivier and he wouldn't be hired at this time.

He can't make any decent films so he resorts to harassing a legal business and those who work for the legal business & those who are shopping for items that are legal.

So, I guess you're OK with porn shops no matter where they set up........How about crack houses? You opposed to neighbors of those taking measures into their own hands to get them shut down?

And FWIW, what do you actually know about Stephen Baldwin these days?
