You can read the full Prospect article on Kennedy's site. Its subject is a lawsuit by a female Princeton student who wanted to be admitted to an all-male eating club at the university. As the title suggests, it argues more broadly that elitism isn't a bad thing. The article is written in an arch style that doesn't do much for me, and I don't think it's very good. But there isn't anything especially offensive or even controversial in it.
Dinesh D'Souza was the editor of Prospect at the time, and he confirms that the article, by H. W. Crocker III, now an editor for Regnery Books, was a satire:
The essay may not have been funny, D'Souza acknowledges, but Kennedy read from it as if it had been serious instead of an attempt at humor. "I think left-wing groups have been feeding Senator Kennedy snippets and he has been mindlessly reciting them," D'Souza said. "It was a satire."
The bottom line is that if this is the most "offensive" article CAP was responsible for in its decade-plus of existence, the Democrats' whole guilt-by-association effort was much ado about nothing. If being associated, however remotely, with attempts at humor that don't turn out to be very funny is enough to place a public figure beyond the pale, the Democrats had better stay away from Al Franken.
Whoever said being a Rat was a mental illness wasn't kidding.
Anyone have that picture of Kennedy off-shore drilling? It's time to remind all of his enviromental policy.
Just want to say .. Congrats to Powerline for catching this one!
Priceless!
"I want to see Kennedy's face when they tell him he was played for a fool."
A fool?
He's getting paid for his foolishness, are we?
Why pick on Kennedy? This has been the Democrat modus operandi via e-mail since I started following politics.
I thought it was a good read.

How come DINOs are few and far between?
I read the whole article. I thought the article written about Teddy half in jest if you substitute "Teddy Kennedy" for "Sally Frank"... Was that the reason Teddy "the swimmer" MAD???
I will be smiling the entire day.
The buffoon out-buffoon's even his own caricature.
It doesn't get any better than this!
Howlin.........off topic.........but how's your arm??
Princeton should be up-in-arms, about being smeared by Kennedy. It should be all over the news. What's goin' on?
We need to contact members of the Judiciary Committee and make sure they know this!

Best commentary of the hearings in one sentence:
"Reasonable people can disagree on the views of these conservative jurists, but first we need reasonable people."
There was a thread on FR posted on 12/21/2005 titled:
Freep Kennedy's Petition, ( and peach, I think you even replied to my post on it, which I am going to post again here). It was a GREAT thread !!!
There were all these libs posting stuff that was going to be delivered to President Bush.....until it got posted on FR!!......
THEN the fun began !!! At first the posts from the freepers were subtle in tone, and then they kept getting more and more "unsubtle", our "cover was blown", and Kennedy's "admin mods" pulled all the freeper threads and LOCKED THE SITE !!
I was going to go for a subtle post(FR style satire)to see if it would go, but here's what happened to me.......(I wonder if my post would have stayed. Here was my "satire to Teddy"....)
Well I logged on, got in, minimized the site, wrote a little letter in MS word, reopened the site, pasted it, even previewed it, but when I went back to the site to see if it loaded, there is NO LONGER a place at the bottom of the page to post anything!!!!
Oh well.....here is what I posted that did not go through:

Dear Senator Kennedy,
I wanted to take a few moments to write to you. I have been a resident of Boston Mass for approx. 4 years, but due to an employment change, I am moving to New York City.
My new employment will still include Boston, but for only 9 or so days out of the year.
My former employer was very disrespectful to me, forced me to live on a wage much lower than I thought I deserved, and refused to negotiate my further employment with him, so I sought employment elsewhere.
I have learned a lot from you as my senator these past four or so years, and am very sorry
that I will no longer be able to vote for you as my senator. Your example of loyalty, truthfulness, and fighting for what is right has greatly influenced my life. Your living example of how to conduct ones self on a daily basis, was the inspiration for me standing up to my former evil employer, and deciding to work for a much less evil one.
I was shown much more respect while interviewing for my new position, and will be paid what I feel that I am worth for the extremely very difficult job I do. Even though I have to adjust to a few changes in my life because of changing jobs,( my new employer has stricter grooming rules) I will adapt.
I will also have to adapt to the slight change in attitude from my former employers customers who do not like my new employer, who is considered very tough and unfair competition. The feedback from my leaving my Boston employment, has left me with the decision to hire someone who will( for possibly the rest of my life) taste my food before I eat it , and start my car.
But it wont get me down, because I have the memories of you, and your shining loyal example of just doing what is right.
I wanted to just write this to thank you Senator Kennedy. You may contact me at my new address listed below.

I tried...
What is Rush's e-mail address?
It is a poor parody. It's funny in and of itself that someone had to confirm the statement was a parody.
