Princeton CAP magazine piece Kennedy read was satire
Powerline ^ | January 14, 2006

You can read the full Prospect article on Kennedy's site. Its subject is a lawsuit by a female Princeton student who wanted to be admitted to an all-male eating club at the university. As the title suggests, it argues more broadly that elitism isn't a bad thing. The article is written in an arch style that doesn't do much for me, and I don't think it's very good. But there isn't anything especially offensive or even controversial in it.

Dinesh D'Souza was the editor of Prospect at the time, and he confirms that the article, by H. W. Crocker III, now an editor for Regnery Books, was a satire:

The essay may not have been funny, D'Souza acknowledges, but Kennedy read from it as if it had been serious instead of an attempt at humor. "I think left-wing groups have been feeding Senator Kennedy snippets and he has been mindlessly reciting them," D'Souza said. "It was a satire."

The bottom line is that if this is the most "offensive" article CAP was responsible for in its decade-plus of existence, the Democrats' whole guilt-by-association effort was much ado about nothing. If being associated, however remotely, with attempts at humor that don't turn out to be very funny is enough to place a public figure beyond the pale, the Democrats had better stay away from Al Franken.

Kennedy will not take responsibility for it. I doubt he will issue an apology. Kennedy's are above the Law, above moral standards.

The issue of Alito's membership in the Concerned Alumni of Princeton vanished into thin air when a search of the conservative group's records -- so angrily demanded by Kennedy -- failed to turn up even a mention of Alito's name.

That didn't stop the DEMs from mounting additional attacks based on Alito's CAP membership.

Idiots! Objects of ridicule, they will be. Again ;-)

"I hope some senator enters this into the record when the Senate goes into floor debate on Judge Alito..... and spend some time setting it up. "

Like a few months ago when (Cheney? Rumsfeld?) set him up on his moralizing and then smacked him down with the 'Senator, you're all wet' remark?

I'm sitting on the edge of my seat.

"the dog is named "Splash" !!!!!"

Years ago I named my dog 'Splash', but that was because she walked right into the pool within 5 minutes of being in our backyard for the first time. I'm sure 'The Nantucket scotch bucket' had a different reason for naming his dog 'Splash'. Never heard of another animal named 'Splash' until now. It sucks that Kennedy used my unique name for a dog. In my drinking days we'd ask the bartender, our friend, for a 'splash' to make a half drink full. How many splashes has Kennedy had?!? Let's see... 66 splashes a day times 365 days times 45 years approximately = 1,000,000 splashes! hahahaha! If it's 666 splashes a day that = about 10 million!

NO SHAME Dimwits..

I do know two people who will get a great kick out of this revelation of satire being mistaken as a "serious" piece by Kennedy's minions and Kennedy....Judge Alito and his wife.

I recall the first major legislation GWBush signed was the Education Bill. On center stage at the signing was Ted Kennedy. GW gushed and lauded and praised Kennedy.

A few years later, one of the first major awards of GWHBush's Library Foundation was an honor to Ted Kennedy.

===

Yet, at every turn, Kennedy has kicked GW in the cajones. The Bush's tried to play nice, and Kennedy and the libDems have attacked them again and again and again.

Then we see the Bush's sidling up to ole Bill Clinton, rehabbing him and keeping him on center stage.

What is it with the Bush's and old Dems? How many times times do the Bush's need a 2x4 smacked up against their heads for them to get the message that the Dems are not their friends?

Remember "quagmire, quagmire, quagmire, quagmire, quagmire; Iraq is George Bush' Vietnam!"

Remember "lie after lie after lie after lie..."

I repeat: How many times times do the Bush's need a 2x4 smacked up against their heads for them to get the message that the Dems are not their friends?

I can't see the guy being trusted by the national media again

I don't watch a lot of TV, but last I heard the MSM was not picking this up, and instead STILL claiming that Alito "brushed off" allegations that he belong to a group that was against "admission for women and minorities".

These people just do not get it.

You are, without a doubt, correct. He certainly hasn't taken the responsibility for any of his questionable acts, has he?

That's ok, having Drunk Uncle in the Sinate is satire too! Listening to him babble makes you wonder if he has 2 firing brain cells left?? Having him match wits with Justice Alito was like putting my son's 2nd grade basketball team against the Lakers.

Kennedy does not make an ass of himself. He is an ass who does nothing for Massachusetts. The MA state's Demo-nuts keep him in power. The Boston Globe and its parent the New York Times advertise for him and lie about him very minute of very day of very week of very year about this POS. Massachusetts is the most politically corrupt state in the USA.

Look at how this played out for the rats -

First, they wanted to ambush Alito with this moonbat leftie professor - a la Anita Hill... last day of the hearings, these charges would be "revealed" resulting in indignatious uproar. (Kenndy kennedy being the most outraged).

Instead, after a little digging the prof was pulled as a witness because everyone on the planet was able to figure out he was a lunatic.

Not willing to give up on this, the rats INSIST that the CAP connection be raised - so they give it to Fat Ted to bring up during the hearings.

It does not go well at all after that.
