Like I said.. they have a TV ad..

I say bring it on, because they've already pi$$ed 15 million dollars down the rat hole. Money that could be well spent in the 2006 midterm elections.

But it is my understanding that in a real fillibuster, only the GOP would have to keep all their members on the floor.

Back in the day when real fillibusters were the normal way to do it, only the chair, speaker and aides had to be on the floor. Who knows what changes have occurred to the rules over the years. Things are so intensely partisan in the senate these days that even getting a stupid rule changed seems to take an Act of the entire Congress, a ruling by the Supreme Court, and an encyclical from the pope. Sheesh, but the senate annoys me.

If Specter did that, the democrats would filibuster in the senate to protest the "unfair treatment of their party by the republicans". The media would jump all over that, and we would lose.

I wish we had had a pro-alito group ready to go as soon as the hearing ended, so C-span had to make a choice of what to cover.

"But the hardline he's taking is in direct response to Kennedy."

I think so to. That erruption between Specter and Kennedy was a site to behold. I am happy that is the one day this week that I watched the coverage all day.

"In the meantime, I am strongly hoping GWB gets at least one more pick, because I have no faith that any of the current crop of leading presidential wannabes will nominate reliable conservatives."

That would be a great legacy, especially if he nominated 3-4 conservatives.

I am thinking Stevens is next to leave, followed by Ginsberg.

Not sure

Rules are that other Dems could delay one week

But Specter has a gentleman's agreement with Leaky that unless there are "extraordinary" reasons to delay .. then the vote would be on the 17th

Now .. knowing the Dems .. anything could happen

BTW ... this chick from RI that is speaking ... is soooo gay
