CINCINNATI -- Carson Palmer's knee injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap, his surgeon said Thursday.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback tore ligaments in his left knee when he was hit by Pittsburgh's Kimo von Oelhoffen on his first pass during the Steelers' 31-17 playoff victory Sunday.

Either don't allow for tackling of QBs, or don't allow for blocking of pass-rushers.

I genuinely hope you don't think this was a classy move. He reached for Palmer, yanked pulled and turn. The only thing i don't agree is that he knew who's knee he had. I don't think he knew it was Palmers knee. But he was definately out to mame who ever it was. That's my opinion but intentionallly trying to hurt another play is low and pretty crappy. I don't know when the steelers became thugs but they looked pretty thugish last Sunday.

Really if you can't win the game fairly, resorting to thugary is unforgivable.

Back when the Patriots won their first Super Bowl they had to beat the Steelers but Brady was injured in the first half in a similar way. An interior lineman grabbed his leg and leaned on it forcing him to leave the game (luckily he wasn't hurt too bad, just a bad sprain) and Bledsoe took over. Between Bledsoe's heroics and the great Patriots defense, the Pats were able to prevail.

If Manning gets hurt or if the Bronco's go after Seymore and McGinist using chop blocking techniques then I think an investigation by the commissioners office should be forthcoming.

No one on the Patriots organization says so. I haven't heard anyone on any team say so, or anyone on ESPN/ABC either. But, you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wild and silly it might be.

And try the spellcheck next time. Your opinion will earn more respect if it's at least spelled right.

Yeah, Palmer still has a future. I hear all this stuff from time to time about how some guy's career is over. Priest Holmes was practically declared dead 4 years ago and he only went on to lead the league in rushing and TD's for 3 years. Willis McGahee should not be playing, let alone starting in the NFL if we listened to those fool reporters. Sports medicene has gotten so much better nowaday, its not 1977 for crying out loud.

You know its funny you correct my spelling and thanks for calling it to my attention. Now if i may i want to point out that palmer plays for the Bengals not the patriots, but i knew what you meant ;)

Have a great weekend.

No one on the Patriots OR the Bengals OR any other team has called it a dirty hit, nor has any tv broadcaster. Only fans and probably (maybe) talk radio guys.

My point doesn't rely on my credibility, just the rest of the NFL.

But as to my error, turnabout is most definitely fairplay.
