John Edwards (aka the Breck Girl) Urges Senate to Filibuster Alito
One America PAC ^ | January 12, 2006 | FORMER Senator John Edwards

Posted on 01/12/2006 6:26:55 PM PST by RWR8189

Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court represents a grave threat to our fundamental liberties. His record makes it clear that he is a conservative activist who will put his personal ideology above the rule of law.

If Alito replaces Sandra Day O'Connor, a moderate justice who represented the swing vote in many cases, some of our most fundamental rights are at risk. Alito won't stand up to a president's abuse of power. He has said that the Constitution does not protect a woman's right to choose. And he has consistently used the bench as a launching pad for his conservative activism.

Sign the petition below to urge Senate Democrats to stand together and use every means at their disposal to block the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. The results will be shared with Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Full Petition Text:

Dear Democratic Senators:

Let's stand up and fight for what we believe in as Democrats. Samuel Alito should not be on the Supreme Court.

I urge you all to stand together and use whatever means you have at your disposal to block the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

Samuel Alito's nomination represents a grave threat to the fundamental liberties of all Americans. He is an activist who has consistently placed his conservative ideology above the rule of law.

If Alito replaces the moderate Sandra Day O'Connor, who often proved to be the swing vote on important cases, the Supreme Court will shift dangerously to the right, undermining our basic freedoms.

In an era when the president of the United States declares himself to be above the law, it is more important than ever that we have a Supreme Court that fulfills its duty as the ultimate guardian of our rights. Alito's nomination puts those rights in danger, and it is vital that you use whatever means possible to block his confirmation.

Possibly, Al Gore could chirp in, too. Then it would be fair to say that someone less relevant has something to say.

John is worried that the Supreme Court might impact his ability to chase emergency vehicles.

Nah ... Edwards is just shamelessly pandering to the moonbats on the Left in the hopes that when he starts passing the hat to fill his campaign coffers, they'll remember that he was out front on this issue and fill it.

I'm sure he's suggesting this in the name of open minded tolerance and acceptance.

These are probably the same people who howl loudly about their own "rights of privacy" being invaded by the NSA. Idiots.

Maybe he's hoping for another chance to be somebody's tampon on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

The cute little puppy turns out to be a nasty little chihuahua like all of them.

Seems to me Breck Boy ought to be spending his time preparing the lawsuit against Wendy's for triggering his fat-assed wife's obesity.

From the link at post 13, verbage is telling:

"We can turn the tables and start spying on them"

Sounds like they were being 'spied' on, why? Did they get caught helping terrorists?

I'm sorry you had to remind me of the shyster trial lawyer just when I had succeeded in suppressing such bad dreams about Kerry/Edwards! Edwards was so convincing he didn't even carry his home state! By the way, I'd like to know if any other FReepers feel the same way I do in this regard: SAINT SANDRA --- yes, so many people have referred to her as if she were a composite of the Oracle of Delphi and Oliver Wendall Holmes!!! Good God! - give us a break. She was (in the opinion of many constitutional legal scholars) little more than a scatterbrain who had no cogent judicial philosophy at all! I've had more than enough of the O'Connor "swing vote" crap to keep me swinging for eternity!! Cut her off the noose and let her stop swinging and drop into respectable obscurity!! Do any others share these sentiments?

I would dare the demoncrats to filibuster Alito! After the nonsense that they raised in the Judiciary hearings, which brought tears to Alito's wife, a filibuster would be icing on the cake? Surely the American people can see these idiots for what they are? And the United States Senate, the august body that they claim to be, surely has rules that prohibits clowns like Kennedy, Biden, Durbin, Schumer, and Feinstein from making asses of themselves?

Edwards isn't good enough to stand beneath the dripping sweat of Alitos nut sac. Edwards is lower-down than a rattlesnakes' belly in a wagon track.

I saw a scroll across FOX today which quoted Biden as saying that there was no longer any use in having senatorial hearings on supreme court nominees. I thought that was interesting.....as if he gave up to the conservatives. The left has no ideas. Their "followers" are radical, non-mainstream,fringe types. The leadership of the left have to appeal to the worst 'types' in order to cobble together a halloween coalition to get 50% + 1. There is no depth beneath which they will not sink. They will confabulate any perjury which they know is a lie, to try of infect the public with the thought that a decent man is not decent. They are more than happy to assinate a man in front of his wife, children, mother, father.....it does not matter to them as long as they derive the slightest political advantage. The depravity on display by Kennedy, Biden, Schumer, and Durbin was there for anyone to see. I think when Mrs. Alito demonstrated her humanity and love for her husband and that became the story, they only then realized they had taken it too far. Kennedy persisted today, but Kennedy is yesterday. He is, like most from Massachusetts, of the opinion that he is superior to the rest of us. He kills and abandons a young girl, and then feels free to disparage the integrity of a decent man. The irony is thick and almost everyone on the left and right know it. Only those on the right will speak of it. Devoid of any internal device to correct their impulses to defame and denigrate another, they proceed with zest only to overplay their hand and reveal nothing of Alito and much about themselves. The democrat is despotic in his thinking, his morality, his perceptions, and his world view. Think of it. They try to appeal to abortionists, homosexuals, perverts, and misfits of many kinds, and in doing so, alienate the mainstream middle who might lean their way. The democrat leadership are held in a stranglehold of these fringe, activist groups, and are unwilling to see that their refusal to defy them relegates them perpetually to the minority. The democrat relies on the following tools....lies, inuendo, senseless symbolism, euphemisms, and their perceived stupidity of the American public. I think the American public is slightly smarter than the democrat senators give them credit for. With muliple media outlets to discuss these matters, they are exposed for what they are....selective bigots of perceived opponents at any cost. In short, the Democrat leadership of this country are empty vessels afloat on a sea of the inane, and wind-whipped in any direction by the newest or oldest political opertion that comes into their head. This idiot judge in Vermont is being haled as a hero by democrat types. What more do you need to know about democrats.

Sorry, I lost my composure. I feel so cheap, tawdry, and disgusting. I must be channeling Ted Kennedy. ;^)
