JUDGING FROM THE LEFT: A JURY OF HIS PEERS? (Is Sen Biden senile, a fool or a clown?)
NY POST ^ | January 12, 2006 | OPINIONS

Posted on 01/12/2006 8:12:34 AM PST by Liz

The Kennedys use their wallets to suffocate their crimes, and the Clintons gave us eight years of lies, abuse of power and deception. If given the choice of hiring Alito or Sen. Ted Kennedy to help run your business, whom would you select? The answer, Alito, is a no-brainer. Gregory Rando Brooklyn

**** These sanctimonious senators are so in love with the sound of their own voices that they spend hours showing their abject ignorance of the Constitution of the United States. Is Sen. Joseph Biden senile or just a fool? Or, is he, as Podhoretz stated in his article, just a clown? Martin Perry Massapequa

**** Kennedy is criticizing Alito for being a member of Concerned Alumni of Princeton when there is a sitting member of the Senate, Robert Byrd, who was a member of the KKK. Leslie Feldman Hempstead

**** Alito should have no trouble being confirmed — all he has to do is follow the same path Chief Justice John Roberts took and not be bullied into answering any stupid questions he doesn't have to. Michael Chimenti Bayside

Alito should follow the same path to confirmation as Chief Justice John Roberts

Justice Roberts silenced the Senate inquisitors when he said---a judge is not a politician---he can't make promises that he will rule in a certain way just to get votes.

Senator Biden, as the Irish used to say in the Boston state house, where is not liked either(nor is Sen. Chubby Chops), is "aggressively stupid."

Liz, Biden is the Senator from Delaware. This state is so small and its people so backward it is entirely possible that Joe Biden was elected by his relatives to keep him out of some family business. (Probably battery-raised chickens) You see, Liz, Delaware really isn't a state, it is part of the Dupont family's lawn. Those family members not presently incarcerated use it to enjoy pleasant afternoons laughing at the peasants, i.e., Joe Biden's family.

Once you walk out of the bar at the Hotel Dupont, you enter a time warp reminiscent of Yoknapatawpha County. Quiz: Name Delaware's other Senator.

I am in favor of a constitutional amendment limiting Delaware and Rhode Island to one senator. In fact, it probably ought to be the same senator.

In order to protect his privacy and keep him anonymous I won't mention his name. He is the guy on the left in the picture below. -Tom

Sen Biden

FAX: 1-202-224-0139

E-MAIL: senator@biden.senate.gov

Sen Thomas Carper is Del's other Senator who defeated the famous Republican Sen William V Roth, who served five terms in the Senate before being defeated in 2000 by former Gov. Tom Carper.

Roth was a relentless champion of tax cuts and also oversaw high-profile inquiries into alleged taxpayer abuses by the IRS and Pentagon overspending that uncovered the famous $9,600 wrench and $640 toilet seat.

The Republican co-authored the 1981 Kemp-Roth tax cuts, but he was best known as the creator of the Roth Individual Retirement Account, or Roth IRA, an individual retirement account that allows people to invest
taxable income that can be withdrawn tax-free in retirement.

Biden's mouth has always overloaded his brain, and I have read that he is a 'fairly decent guy personally', but he is not considered the brightest crayon in the box.

Kennedy belonged to a group called OWL while at Harvard, and that group rejected females as members! Once again, Kennedy is exposed as a hypocrite of monumental proportions. It's a shame that former Senator Mike Mansfield welcomed him back to the Senate after the Chappaquiddick scandal. He should have been acknowledged as the scum he was/is and expelled from the Senate and never allowed to hold any Public, State or National office!

"Plagiarizing" is a reference to his ill-fated '88 campaign for president, where his Democratic brethren opponents dug up some dirt on him and revealed that he had "plagiarized" someone else's historical speeches and gave them as if he wrote them.....

The names of Tom Carper and Joe Biden surfaced last week on lists of federal lawmakers who received money, in one form or another, from ubiquitous super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Abramoff is the center of the largest ever public corruption involving Congress and its staff members.

In brief, Abramoff and his cronies, including his aide, former Rehoboth Beach, Del lifeguard Mike Scanlon, ripped off Indian tribes seeking federal gambling licenses by playing them off each other and charging both sides millions for legal services.

Carper showed up on a list produced by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which has so far tracked almost $4.5 million in contributions to some 240 lawmakers.

Carper's staff found about $7,000 in campaign money linked to Abramoff, which the senator first thought he'd keep because he's never met Abramoff or his partners. Some of the money came from two lobbyist friends of Carper's back from his House days. The rest came from a couple of Indian tribes Abramoff represented.

Biden's situation is much different, but no less complicated. He received only $1,250, which was a straight-up individual campaign contribution.

The Biden money came from one of 1,500 lawyers -- yes, that's one thousand five hundred, a scary number -- who work at Greenberg Traurig LLP, Abramoff's old law firm. G-T has offices in London, Amsterdam, Atlanta, Brussels, Chicago, New York, Zurich, Los Angeles, and, of course, Wilmington.
