This morning, Senators will question Judge Alito during a third round. They will then go into a closed session, to review the FBI background investigation on the Supreme Court nominee. Outside witnesses may be called to testify this afternoon, as well as the American Bar Association, to discuss its recommendations.

In a court case, since all matters are under debate, slander is not a case that can be brought forward. Otherwise, it would affect the hearings process.

In court you can accuse somebody of anything. They then can deny it. It's part of the process.

I gather these hearings involve the same rule.

The Dems need to take a course on the constitution. The words "right to privacy" aren't even in it. It's implied in liberty. But, it's a long way from liberty to abortion.

(P. Leahy and C. Schumer are on C-Span right now calling him a liar and accusing him of "inconsistency" and how he's "shied away from answering" their questions--many of the panel have already cited how MUCH he's answered questions as opposed to previous nominees notwithstanding)--

Oh, and Kennedy made an idiot of himself with his last minute tirade against the judge, accusing him of bigotry, sexism, racism, and every other -ism you can think of.
