He was starched with hubris and pride on O'Reilly awhile back .. didn't think they did anything wrong in releasing leaked NSA and secret prison info .. thinks everything should be out there. He could've cared less about the risk to US.

A lot of people still buy phone cards, how do they know these are for terrorists?

The network bought them? That's how they knew!

The really sad thing is...I think you just nailed it!

In 2000 McCain won:

-New Hampshire

-Arizona

-Michigan (thanks to Alan Keyes)

Massachusetts

-Vermont

-Rhode Island

-Connecticut (by a mere three points)

That's it!

If he thinks he can do better the next time around, after McCain-Feingold has been enacted, and he's stripped the CIA of the power to interrogate Islamic terrorists, then he's welcome to try.

"...That Gerhardt guy was just being too cute by half..."

I have been using that expression for years and have no idea where I picked it up. I did have a lovely, well-educated British female supervisor long ago--could it be from the Brits? But then I also had a Cockney friend who might have used it. And what does it really mean? So I can tell someone who asks the next time I use it.

I think the dems would be STOOPID to filibuster...so they are probably thinking about doing just that....

BTW...I was just watching Hairball...and the weapons inspector David Kay was on...talking about Iran..

Chrissy asked him if Cheney has an "itchy trigger finger"...and David Kay said.."I don't know about an itchy trigger finger..but he as AN ITCHY TONGUE"...

WTF was that supposed to mean???

I rather like that things shook out the way they did, including the trip down Miers Lane.

I'm glad you said that, because I feel the same way. It seems like the Harriet Miers' bruhaha brought out and solidified support for Alito.

To me, [he] comes across as far more knowledgable and grounded than Roberts. Alito has tons more judicial experience than Roberts did, and can refer back to his own decisions - of which he has hundreds.

"...and David Kay said.."I don't know about an itchy trigger finger..but he as AN ITCHY TONGUE"...

I think Kay is another limp wrist State type who finds Cheney's habit of speaking truth to power "threatening" and "unduly confrontational"

IMHO I think Alito should have been chosen as the chief justice. Alito does, indeed, have more substance. It's said that he's the most experienced nominee in the last 70 years.

What a pleasure to see such excellence on display.

I just heard on the way home (via radio news) that they are considering just quitting the confirmation hearings and taking a vote....

but I am sure the dems would prefer to conitinue their suicide mission and fundraising circus.....

they will debate next week for 3 days...

Amazing that the current crop of senators needs a couple of months of preparation, several days of hearings, a committee vote, and three days of floor debate to do something that earlier senators typically got done in a day or two -- maybe a month if they had to return from a recess first.

I think the people of Arizona see him differently now. Don't forget he was virtually unchallenged last year and really didn't even campaign... he's sponsoring Kyle campaign this year -- probably to suck Kyle in to not supporting any opponents in the State..

Not only that, if he thinks he can do better in 2008 where the Democrats will have a hotly contested race of their own with no clear front runner so Democrats will not be crossing over for him, he is INSANE.
