Jets betray King's ideal (Military not welcome at MLK March)
San Antonio Express-News ^ | 01/11/2006 | City Councilwoman Patti Radle

With the Martin Luther King march approaching, I want to commend members of the march commission who voted against the planned military fly-over of the fighter jets.

King was not one to march to the beat of the military drum. His words and message went against the mainstream of acceptance of war as a means to obtain peace. He said, standing in the shadow of Mahatma Gandhi and Jesus Christ, who insisted that the system must be changed, "Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him."

King's actions showed that, just like those in the military, one offers his or her life for the freedom of others. But King's message is different, strong, even radical: Do it without the violence, do it with love and understanding.

The six who voted against the fly-over were brave to insist King's message not be diluted or twisted, mainstreamed or made "palatable." His message was difficult for many to accept in 1968. It is no less challenging today. That is why we march. We cannot forget.

King spoke so strongly against war. Fighter jets do not serve as a tribute. They serve as a demonstration of misunderstanding King's message.

San Antonio hosts the nations largest MLK march every year. This year there is debate on whether or not to acknowledge or even give tribute to our armed forces on MLK day as they are fighting for freedom and democracy.

Of course, MLK could have only been successful under a western type culture like America made free by its armed forces. If he tried that stuff in a Nazi or Muslim world, he would have been liquidated very quickly...

Patti Radle is no doubt a proponent of the MLK adultery float displaying the likeness of the numerous mistresses of the civil rights leader thus maintaining the theme of "do it with love and understanding."

Patti went on to say King was not one to march to the beat of the military drum.

But I say, King - and all other peace-niks - are able to freely march only because of the brave men and women who fought for peace.

I don't think it's her being a Dimmi that causes me to wretch when she opens her mouth. It's that she's a Peace & Justice Catholic with some of the extremely goofy ideas that are rampant within that crowd..

BTW, I am Catholic, and I think her idea of spending millions on a homeless hotel sucks. She was livid when her "remorseless" councilmen voted for the following:

Aggressive panhandling and urinating or defecating in public are now banned. People can no longer camp in public without a permit, which includes sleeping in vehicles. Sitting or lying down in right of ways in public places is now illegal, but only in the city's central business district.

IMHO, she is a peace & social justice extremist.

Patti Radle

She is also in favor of spending $250.000 for a self cleaning toilet for our homeless friends to use downtown

To Hell with Michael Luther King and all who worship at his feet.

Call him what he was, a socialist and a tool of the communists.

Councilwoman Radle is an empty-headed twit who started out well enough by starting Inner City Pantry, a food bank ministry for the West Side, with her husband Rob, but apparently it was a front for VERY socialist (some might say communist, and I wouldn't argue) ideas. They were both ultra-rich kids from up north who got caught up in the guilt of the 60s and just haven't gotten over it yet. Hence the continued anti-military flatulence.

These people are so darn smart. Just think if we had only been non-violent and had shown love and compassion to Adolph and Tojo, that entire WW II thingy would not have been necessary.

I say we send these San Antonio folks to Iran to see if they can learn to sing Kumbaya too.
