Yes, I am sure he prepared for this hearing. But that's what you do if your smart right? Regardless of whether he was given the questions or not, his ability to articulate an informed opinion and not sound like he's only agreeing with the 'pubs side makes me like him immensely. Also his composure in the face of the 'rats insidious ploy to label him anti Roe v. Wade is impressive.

Yes, that is what I was thinking also.

Earlier this morning I was thinking back to the Thomas nomination hearings, and trying to remember when they were. At the time, I was attending a business conference with two NARAL supporters who watched those hearings instead of attending the meetings. That was in 1990.

Many thanks....I'll see a few lawyers at a party this weekend..maybe I'll ask them....though I have to avoid my tendency for "MEGO" ( My Eyes Glaze Over) when talking to attorneys...

Much as I dislike Specter, I don't think making fun of the hair of a man who has cancer is appropriate.

The 'Rats are Stuck on Stupid, and I'm enjoying every last minute of it.

Who would you buy a used car from - Alito, or one of the 'Rats? (Well, I might buy Ted's Olds, but only so I have the evidence!)

My hubby had chemo and radiation. The hair does grow back in rather unusual patches and textures.

Excerpt from NBC News' Meet the Press

Tim Russert interview of Durbin on abortion subject:

MR. RUSSERT: It's interesting, because in your own political past, when you were a congressman in the House of Representatives in 1983, you believed that Roe vs. Wade was incorrectly decided. You filled out a questionnaire calling for a constitutional limit to ban all abortions. You wrote a constituent saying that "The right to an abortion is not guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution."

SEN. DURBIN: I'll concede that point to you, Tim. When I came to Washington...

MR. RUSSERT: So are these views out of the mainstream?

SEN. DURBIN: Well, at that point, I can tell you I came to Congress not having seen what I think is the important part of this debate and not understanding, if you will, really what was behind it. You know, it's a struggle for me. It still is. I'm opposed to abortion. If any woman in my family said she was seeking abortion, I'd go out of my way to try to dissuade them from making that decision. But I was really discouraged when I came to Washington to find that the opponents of abortion were also opponents of family planning. This didn't make any sense to me. And I was also discouraged by the fact that they were absolute, no exceptions for rape and incest, the most extraordinary medical situations. And I finally came to the conclusion that we really have to try to honor the Roe vs. Wade thinking, that there are certain times in the life of a woman that she needs to make that decision with her doctor, with her family and with her conscience and that the government shouldn't be intruding. It's true that my position changed, but as Abraham Lincoln said when they accused him of changing his position, "I'd rather be right some of the time than wrong all the time."

Is there such a thing as a CINO? We do hear about CEOs, Christmas and Easter Only (whom Pope Benedict XVI welcomes :-)

The week before Christmas this year our priest gave us a word of warning about the CINO's. He told us to come to the Midnight Mass and not the 4:00PM Mass because the twice a year Catholic would be filling up the pews for that service, so they could have the rest of the evening free.

He also said we should welcome them. They could answer to God later for their behavior

The dems are proving to all that they truly are the dumb party.

Not a single intellectual in the bunch and they're all dishonest too.
