Kennedy Voted 'Biggest Windbag' at Alito Hearings

Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) was voted overwhelmingly the "biggest windbag" on the Judiciary Committee in yesterday's AlitoBlog.com poll.

With 500 votes cast, Kennedy received 69.6% of the vote -- far outpacing his nearest rival, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.), who finished with 18%. Sen. Joe Biden (D.-Del.), a likely presidential candidate in 2008, had 6.4% to finish third.

The committee's ranking Democrat, Sen. Patrick Leahy (Vt.), despite his prominent role during the hearings, placed fourth with 2.4%. Sen. Dianne Feinstein had 1.9% for a fifth-place finish.

The other two Democrats, Senators Herb Kohl (Wis.) and Russ Feingold (Wis.), received no votes.

Yesterday AlitoBlog.com asked readers: "Which Democratic senator was the biggest windbag at the Judiciary Committee's round of opening statements about Judge Samuel Alito?"

It's a close call, but he gets my vote.
His ability to string sentence, after rambling sentence together with no apparent necessity to catch a breath is remarkable, but the grin is the clincher.

"At the bar watching I heard,...

That's the proper place to watch this. I watched only a few minutes of it after work to get the correct impression. Alito's boring them to tears and they act like caged animals.

I heard Kennedy wanted to ask Judge Ali Ito why he let OJ go free, but his staff talked him out of it.

I would call them "The Three Stooges", but that would be an insult to the memory of Moe, Larry, and Curly.

Yes, I heard that. That was quite a question. You just have to laugh, really.

The question should have been, " The President rapes a ho from the trailer park, shouldn't he be immune from prosecution?"

Leahy: If the President commits murder, should he be immune from prosecution?

Alito: Only if he does it on a bridge in an Oldsmobile.

God what I would'nt give to have Alito say that, just to see the look on Teddy K's face and the gasps (and maybe giggles as well) of everyone else.

The only part of the hearings I got to see featured our very own Lindsey Graham. He would ask Judge A. a question, the judge would begin to answer, and Graham would cut him off in mid-sentence to answer his own question.

He did this at least a dozen times. Alito has the patience of Job.

A bag of wind can float on water...

Ironic that you mention that.

Mary Jo died of asphyxiation rather than drowning in that '67 Olds Delta 88. So I guess she could have used a few "bags of wind". No telling how long she suffered in that car as the driver split the scene.
