The vitriolic hatred of the United States in some parts of the Arab world has left many Americans bewildered. ‘If they hate us so bitterly,’ the thinking goes, ‘we must have wronged them. Otherwise they would not be so intent on harming us. We must have given them good reasons for that.’
We would do well to remember, however, that this is not the first time America is the object of such hatred. Not even fifteen years ago, we were maligned in much the same way by the Soviets and their allies who treated us daily to hefty doses of seemingly boundless malevolence.

In 1985 I heard this story about how some Arabic groups treat their children. After you hear this story - you will understand WHY they hate us - and why it has nothing to do with anything WE DID TO THEM.
Beginning when the children are school age, they are sent to "camps" - in these summer camps, the children are taught as follows:
The boys are taught to take a tiny puppy dog and squeeze it's neck until the puppy dies. All the time the boys are doing this act of violence - the boys are taught to say - "this is the dog the Jew and this is what I can do to the dog the Jew".
The girls are taught to take a tiny snake and chop it's head off - killing the snake. All the time the girls are doing this act of violence - the girls are taught to say - "this is the snake the Jew and this is what I can do to the snake the Jew".
When you take children 4-5 years old and you indoctrinate or basically brain-wash them with this attitude - it can and does stay with them for life.
We haven't done anything to make them hate us - they have trained their children to perpetuate their hatred of anything Jewish or .. anyone who supports Israel.
The Arabic hatred of Israel is 4000 years old and I don't expect that hatred to be cooled any day soon. The Arabic nations believe Ishmael is the true heir of Abraham - not the Israelite - Isaac. This is a war between 2 half-brothers fighting over an inheritance - the land between the "the Egypt river (the Nile) and the Euphrates" - that's in Genesis.
Today we face an analogous situation in regard to Islamic fundamentalists. In them we confront an enemy whose ideology has produced broken and unjust societies. To divert attention from their own failings, they vent their frustration at the country which contrasts ever so brightly with the depravity of their own ways. The frantic shrillness of their rhetoric indicates that they are on their last legs. As the Soviets did with Reagan, their vilification of Bush has reached a frenzied pitch, because they feel that his resolve will hasten their downfall.
It describes the deamoncRATS perfectly.
I think the left is so anti-Christian instead of anti-religious. They seem to be supportive of any other religion except Christianity, which receives their full hostility.

Irrelevant. I don't care why they hate me anymore than I would care that a rabid dog hated me. The fact that they want to kill me is all I need to know.
Only because they could not find any true believers willing to die for their cause.

He could be easily talking about the Democrats in addition to the islamic extremists on this point.

Don't expect too much. Look at Venezuela and Columbia, which also have the forms of democracy. The former is led by a typical caudillo; the latter has a decent government but cannot maintain order in the country. In the Middle East, Pakistan and Yeman have some of the forms of a civil society, but the real power is exercised by tribal rulers. Hopefully, the Iraqis will get their acts together.
