Perhaps the fault lies with whoever wrote that post 9/11 memo.

Graham is shooting back at his critics for being a part of the Gang of 14.

To: maggief; Howlin
Leaky and Swimmer look absolutely pained by Biden's incessant rambling and, as for Biden, he looks "maniacal" as Howlin said.

Lindsay had a couple martinis during the break, that's for sure. He is practically eating the microphone and now he has this heavy breathing thing going on.......

"He is on par with Roberts, but I think he is coming across as a much warmer, accessible person."
The best scenario the dems could hope for would be to provoke Alito to make a rash statement, suitable for an evening news soundbite.
But I doubt Alito will make such a mistake.
So the Senate dems are left with the prospect of trying to rattle the guy for days, only getting reasoned, respectful and smart responses.
And to decide to vote against such an obviously qualified person.
The ABA, his colleagues, his clerks, all speak very highly of him.
The dems will look like the extremists, out of the mainstream, if they vote against him.
I expect he will be confirmed in a few days, by over 60 votes. Without a filibuster.
The closest to a filibuster I have hears is Shumer's mantra.

No what he said was is if the statute goes to far it would impede the President's ability to wage war.

Now I'm lost...thoroughly.
At first I thought Graham was doing very well...now I'm not so sure.
I can't decide what his actual agenda is here..

If based on noting the press pictures coming out of this hearing the Democrats are getting spanked hard. They really look upset and worried while Alito (GREAT picture of his wife whispering something to him with both of them grinning from ear to ear), is going to be THE image from the hearings. The only pictue of Feingold is one of him stifling a HUGE yawn. PR wise the Democrats look really, really, really bad in this.

No, its perfect. Alito is showing he will call them as he sees them, and has not prejudged anything.
