Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Monday the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon would be a serious defeat for United States policy in the Middle East, state-run radio reported.
"The Americans have been defeated in Palestine since the butcher of the Palestinians, who intended to destroy the Palestinian Intifada, has come to his end," the radio quoted Khamenei as saying to a group of visitors.
On Thursday Iran's hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he hoped for the death of Sharon.

This man is truly a LUNATIC!
He can't seem to go a day without provoking the US and Israel......
I bet the forces inside Iran that would like to see this man go down are getting a little antsy.....

Sharon being no longer in office has nothing to do with it, and he's not going to admit that the Quartet is fulfilling his desire.

This entire situation with Iran has all the hallmarks of a very bad movie script - the Evil Overlord says 'you have six months to turn the entire world against us while (inshalla) we produce our nuclear weapons...now off you go, get out there and be as provocative as you can be'.
I just hope no one in the West falls for it. His comeuppance must come from within.

Feels pretty good being the whole center of the world.. No wonder why so many Eurotrash hate us; we get all the attention. We're the only ones who matter...
Either that, or they're just plain bonkers.

And if Bibi is elected I think Iran will be sorry to lose Sharon as a peace partner.
Bibi won't put up with unilateral retreat.

In their desperate losing situation, a chicken crossing the road would be a sign of U.S. defeat.
I wonder what they tell their followers each time these 'omens' proves false.

actually, I think his death would be a defeat for Palestinians cause they have gotten a lot of concessions from a Sharon. Bibi would not be nearly as generous and would, if re-elected, most likely halt any discussion with them.

Thanks for the ping. Fox reports Sharon's new party gains popularity in polls after his stroke. Should Netanyahu be elected, Khamenei and Ahmadinejad are in for a rude awakening--No doubt they are pumped full of bravado by their Russian benefactors in the shadows. What a surprise when the air defense is not adequate and the dispersion and burial of the various sites does not prevent their atomization. Will Russia confront the U.S. in undisguised combat? No and again no. Regime change will drain the swamp this year though every mullah's fist be raised in megalomaniacal rant.
