Bill Clinton Spends Time In Redmond? [Rumor mill: Bill Clinton to be new CEO of Microsoft?]
WebProNews ^ | 1/9/06 | John Stith

Rumors are always abound all over the place. It could be your cousin is seeing someone a little older than they should be. Maybe your brother got a speeding ticket no one was supposed to know about. Or perhaps a former president of the United States might be considering a job at the top of a tech company.

The blog, VoIP Watch, reported on the number of visits Bill Clinton has been making to Microsoft's facilities up in Redmond, Wa. According to their reporting, Clinton has been in talks with Microsoft for several months, interviewing him for the top slot. This would mean current chief Steve Ballmer would have to step down.

Here's what I know. Sources near Microsoft headquarters report that over the past few months the ex cigar smoking prexy has made trips to Microsoft headquarters and has been interviewing for the top slot as the company looks at ways to transform themselves for the future. Given the global implications of technology, having a leader that is an ex country president would be massive.

Why now? Well Ballmer has driven the company. His hard charging sales leadership style helped Microsoft during a time when that approach was needed. But Microsoft folks I've talked to admit those days are over and a new style is needed to be more change oriented.

They went on to emphasize this is just a rumor and pointed out the trips may have to do with Clinton being on the Microsoft's board. But… with all the rumors of what's what in the tech industry, sometimes it's intriguing to speculate. Bill Clinton running Microsoft is just a rumor and probably nothing but consider the consequences, have a president of the United States running a major multinational corporation. It's been a while that's for sure.

Clinton as CEO? Not a chance. Gates didn't get to the top by being an idiot.

Oh, that would be rich. The corporation Clinton went after with more vigor than he went after the terrorists turning around and hiring him to be CEO? Nah.

Bill Clinton? Microsoft?

Micro.......meaning small, diminished in size...

Soft.....yielding, cushy, not hard!

I'd say Clinton is in exactly the right place. He can give Bill Gate's fortune away instead of the fortunes of the people of the USA. Gigabyte me Bills!

Smart move Microsoft: Hire an empty suit.

Hillary! was always the brains of the Clintonista operation. Bill has no skills other than schmoozing and manhandling interns.

Alone he couldn't manage a Subway restaurant.

It's true. But I heard they've reached an impasse, because Gates wants Clinton to wear an eletronic ankle bracelet at all times when ever he enters the Microsoft property and no internet access in his office. Clinton has agreed in principle provided that Gates agree to rename the software product--

I'm trying to figure out what some of the software titles would be under Bubba's reign. I think he'd lose all interest in Word, Excel, etc., real fast.

Let me introduce you to a man named Ramsey Clark.

I think Waco trumps anything Ramsey Clark has ever done. Of course that old Marxist is still is alive and kicking up his heels with his favorite dictator

Reno is either too drunk or doing the Parkinson's dance to do any more damage.

May they both rot in hell for what they have done to this country in the name of justice

"Bet he's there to hit Gates up for money."

Exactly!

AlGore successfully "convinced" Gates to support the DNC in the 2000 election, so William the Bent is generating funds for the Hitlery.

"You'd think WANG would be interested in hiring him..."

Yeah, but I hear what he REALLY wants is the chance to run "Air America" and save Al Franken-stein's job!!

Perhaps Clinton could do both: be the new CEO of the revived Wang, Inc. AND the new Chairman of Airheads America trying to salvage Al Franken-stein's pet project.
