The Patriots Guild-What do you love about freedom?
anyone who shows up...

Patriots Guild
No one knows what the outcome of World War II would have been if more than 18 million women hadn't worked in home-front defense industries to free men for overseas battlefields and to keep the nation running, and no one can say what would happen in this war on terror, if it were not for the countless Contractors, who put their lives on the line to re-build Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the millions of civilians who support the war effort from home.
***
I would like to introduce you to the Patriots Guild- a place where like minded can meet to share information about their pursuits in supporting the war effort. We are mindful that there are many people to thank, and to keep in our thoughts and prayers- our allies, contractors, Merchant Marines, troops, veterans and their families all need to feel loved. This is a huge effort, isn't it?
So stop by with a joke, a recipe, a song ,or a plan- and lets figure out a way to get our message out to the world.... WE LOVE OUR FREEDOM!
***
SO without further ado- I offer this ice breaker...... what is your favorite thing about having freedom? (keep it family friendly please!) I enjoy fresh coffee from Dunkin Donuts, myself... I just drive downtown and BINGO- Freedom...... I wonder if DD ever considered shipping coffee to our good guys in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think I will call them and ask.... How about you, what do you love about your freedom?***

Thanks for the ping Diva!
Freedom means owning guns, driving anywhere ya want, places for free expression of our passions that we share such as here!

I'm grateful that my youngest just celebrated her first birthday here, in a country where she will be valued, and educated, and allowed to fulfill her dreams. A little thing, maybe, but attained through great saccrifice.

What a wonderful subject thread missy!!
The first thing that comes to my mind is coming back to this country after traveling though what I call some 2nd world and a couple of 3rd world countries makes me want to shout out God Bless America! in passport control. It is the moment I feel most blessed to be an American and thankful for those who fight, not only for our freedom but others around the world.
I think the freedom to choose which direction my life will take (more or less) is one that I value dearly. It is up to me whether I rise toward the top or sink to the bottom....unlike other countries with dictators or pseudo presidents where the citizens are so oppressed and can never aspire to be anything but what they are.

I know exactly what you mean. I can't even begin to imagine the emotions and thoughts of their loved ones waiting for their return any moment.

Very insightful. The best thing is studying on your own, like Abraham Lincoln. Then, thinking for yourself instead of some university professor telling you what to think.

Freedom from what? From whom?
To: NYTexan
The 500 is Memorial Day weekend. You would have to make arangements- because things get really booked up- I may have an extra ticket to the 500... even if I don't we could defiantly score some at the track. Do you have a racin buddy who would like to go to the 500? I could make a great tour guide. I could buy my wonderful veteran buddy a beer. That would be so cool!

Hi Dyabreak! Thanks for joining us! Your post reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
Warren Wildwood described American prisoners of the British (during the War of 1812) as a troublesome and restless lot, observing:
"They will not settle down to inactivity under any wrong or oppression; they will not bear any burden meekly or tamely; nurtured in the lap of freedom, they chafe fearfully under any restraint; their liberty they will seek at any hazard - they pant for it as for the air they breath; show them the remotest possibility of accomplishing their purpose, and no danger, no thousand dangers, will deter them from the attempt; destroyed they may be but not subdued"
