The Patriots Guild-What do you love about freedom?
anyone who shows up...

Patriots Guild
No one knows what the outcome of World War II would have been if more than 18 million women hadn't worked in home-front defense industries to free men for overseas battlefields and to keep the nation running, and no one can say what would happen in this war on terror, if it were not for the countless Contractors, who put their lives on the line to re-build Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the millions of civilians who support the war effort from home.
***
I would like to introduce you to the Patriots Guild- a place where like minded can meet to share information about their pursuits in supporting the war effort. We are mindful that there are many people to thank, and to keep in our thoughts and prayers- our allies, contractors, Merchant Marines, troops, veterans and their families all need to feel loved. This is a huge effort, isn't it?
So stop by with a joke, a recipe, a song ,or a plan- and lets figure out a way to get our message out to the world.... WE LOVE OUR FREEDOM!
***
SO without further ado- I offer this ice breaker...... what is your favorite thing about having freedom? (keep it family friendly please!) I enjoy fresh coffee from Dunkin Donuts, myself... I just drive downtown and BINGO- Freedom...... I wonder if DD ever considered shipping coffee to our good guys in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think I will call them and ask.... How about you, what do you love about your freedom?***

That is a lovely graphic, Ms. GBU!!!
I'll bet it was hard to tear yourselves away from the beach and come back home today, eh?
It's always like that when I go to the beach. Once I'm there for awhile, I hate to tear myself away.
I think it's the rhythm of the waves or something...?

Here is a photo of the 184th Infantry Regiment, a unit of California National Guard, just after they landed at Fort Bliss, Texas on January 12, 2006:

Just an idea for anyone who has a youth group or a lot of children:
Next week I am having a large group of homeschoolers meet at my house to make Valentines and put together a party in a box for the children at our local military base. I am just going to send it to the Chaplains office there and let them do the rest. Just an idea to help support our heroes, in case anyone is looking for one!
It will cost next to nothing to do.
Btw- i love my freedom to homeschool.
Do you have any plans for Valentines day, Dita??

The right to live my life as I see fit.
The right for me to have the opportunity to push myself to the best of my abilities, and have a financially and personal success unattainable in any other nation.
The fact that my nation has always acted in good faith, even when we were wrong.
The fact that one can love their country, yet be free to criticize it when its steers off course.
The fact that I am surrounded by the greatest people on earth in the GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH!

Very good Dita. I am sure they will appreciate that. Here is something I just found:
Recipe for a Military Spouse
1 1/2 cups Patience
1 cup Courage
3/4 cup Tolerance
dash of Adventure
1 pound of Ability
To the above ingredients: Add 2 tablespoons elbow grease and let stand alone for one year. Marinate frequently with salty tears. Pour off excess fat and sprinkle ever so lightly with money then Knead dough until payday. Season with international spices. Bake 20 years or until done. Makes unlimited servings~ SERVE WITH PRIDE

My favorite thing about freedom is that I can easily get in book form the greatest thoughts and ideas human beings have ever come up with, learn all about them, ponder them for myself, and decide which of them make how much sense to me - without asking anybodies permission or worrying about anything except the truth as I have light to see it. Thanks to everyone and everything who helps make that possible. I could not be luckier.

I can't remember where I found the photo , but it was way over-sized and I looked at the face of each soldier. I could only imagine what was going on inside of them, after 18 months in Iraq, touching down on U.S. ground for the first time ...
