The War on Beer (ZOT!!! Try Our Delicious Troll in Beer Batter)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.
"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.

Serious drunks will drink their beer warm. I've seen them.I heard something shocking the other day, although it explains a lot of the driving I see in the mornings on the way to work.
A local radio station was joking about people having a few drinks before, or even on their way to work. Well, they began getting calls from people who were doing just that. It seems that in KC, a rather large number of people decide to get their buzz on before work. And many drink while driving.
Selling beer at room temperature won't have any effect on this, as all of them were drinkign mixed drinks. Jack & Coke, screwdrivers, or bloody marys were the most popular. I don't recall anyone saying that they would drink beer on the way to work.

When I attended Mizzou there was a store with a huge sign off I-70 saying Liquor Guns Ammo. I hope the state hasn't changed."Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms." Should be a convenience store, not a government agency!

Virtually all casinos will let you smoke a stick at the gaming tables. Better casinos will comp you a cigar and a Courvoisier.Only if you play the $25 tables for a few hours or more... (grumble...)

Cold hell, I had to go to St. Louis in 2005. I took the Bud tour. It sucks from the factory.I went to Seaworld in Orlando a number of years ago. Middle of summer, terribly hot and humid. And AB has a beer hall there, where you can get free samples, as well as buy a plastic cup or three of your favorite AB product. Although I'm not a big fan of any of their beers, on that particular day, a nice cold Bud went down particularly well.

Its the only beer I truly hated. You've apparantly never tried "Weidemanns!"
In college we used to drink it because it was so cheap. In fact the deposit on the bottles was 1/2 the price of the beer itself. We'd hoard the empties so we could still buy beer when we didn't have any money!
This stuff was so nasty (even ice cold), you could NOT drink it out of a glass. You had to drink it from the longneck bottle. If you smelled it, you couldn't drink it.

Well...you've never had Esker Alt. Brewed in Bonduel, WI., sold in half gallon jugs. I spilled some on a pair of penny loafers and they would never take a shine again.

You need to get off the strip more. I've gotten a cognac (not always Courvoisier) at virtually every 5 dollar table I've sat at in Vegas, cigars can be trickier. I've found off strip and downtown to always be more hospitable, with a lower table limits to boot.

Hey, Joe, we need another barkeep over here! I'm almost out of Ol' No. 8, so I'm working on recruiting members, but we're gettin' thirsty...and it's getting ugly, some people are being forced to drink American mass-market beer!
