The War on Beer (ZOT!!! Try Our Delicious Troll in Beer Batter)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.
"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.

The only way I'll drink Budweiser is from a keg and ice cold. Even then, it's barely tolerable. Cans and bottles, forget it. I'd rather pop the top on a can of hairspray. Honestly, I don't know how Bud drinkers do it. The stuff is noxious.
I'm just thankful I came of age when microbreweries started taking off.

I enjoy Sierra Nevada pale ale quite a bit, so they've never had the chance to get warm on my watch. Thanks for the warning.

When I was in high school, a classmate kept a cooler of Gluktstite (I think that was its name) 4 ounce cans in his car in the school parking lot. He'd drain a couple for lunch and show no sign of drinking in the afternoon in class.

What we need is a purity law like Germany, so breweries stop selling watery crap. That is one rare gov't regulation I'd drink to.

Also make sure you store them cold for the same reason. Sierra Nevadas can quick move from a 10 to a 7 if not stored well (mark of a good beer, really the worst they'll ever get is a 7).

I remember those. Just enough beer to make you thirsty. Still, when I was under age and that was all the parents had in the fridge...

A survey was taken in which driver's were asked what there last words would be in case of their car/truck reeling out of control. Most respondants said "Oh, sh!t". Except the ones from Texas and Oklahoma who said "Hold my beer, I want to try something."

Ever hear of a Lagered Ale...? Actually, no. I thought that Lager yeast thrived below 41 degrees during the final fermentation process...which are filtered out and the beer returned to warmer temps to stop any further fermentation. Thus the warm German beers.
Conversely, top fermenting ales utilize brewer's yeast that likes warm temps so after final filtration to remove the yeast beasties, the brew is kept cold to retard further further fermentation.
A Lagered Ale....sounds like an oxymoron.
But then...I don't brew 'em...I just drink 'em.

They also asked us to turn our AC down. They all hated air conditioning. They also didn't believe in daily showers, underarm deoderant and not wearing the same clothes more than three days in a row.You should have sent them down here to central Florida in August 2004 after Hurricane Charley came through. They'd have "gotten religion" on those right quick!
