"Texas wins, on the scoreboard, but, it's not really considered legit with that gift of 6pts when the crew could have done their job and reviewed ANY score that looked iffy.'
Oh, quit crying already. The University of Spoiled Children lost, we won. Enough said!
Yes, but you're missing my point entirely. Your initial post, if I understand you correctly, was that USC lost because they weren't playing a PAC 10 team. The implication is that USC was only #1 because they were in the PAC 10. That is pure bunk. USC has won every non-conference game in the last 3 years. USC gave Texas their toughest game since Ohio State. Say what you want about the PAC 10, but don't suggest that USC's status as a national contention team is merely the result of a weak conference.
no crying. I'm a KC Royals fan. I'm used to losing. Just never had anyone actually tack on 6pts before. LOL.
But, but.....Arizona State beat Rutgers 45-40!
Big XII 7-1 against the spread
Pac 10 1-4
A lot of folks underestimated the Bix XII this year.
Scoreboard.
I really liked what a saw of White. He will make a very good pro.
finger! LOL. i know what the scoreboard said. just analyzing. chill, beavis.
You have a point there. I linked an article from ESPN a little earlier in the thread where it talks about how the guys in the booth -- Big 10 if that matters -- dropped the ball. Regardless, though, USC blew so many opportunities it is mind-boggling. There are soooooooo many ways SC should have won this game. I won't say they were robbed -- but they left the door unlocked.
See post 3484 - the play would most likely stood up. It is not a "phantom" TD no matter what Dan Fouts and Keith Jackson think.
If Young had been in the act of fumbling, would you have considered him down if his knee hit the ground before the ball was completely away from his body?
Agreed. LSU has some of the most classless, boorish, overbearing, rub it in your face, jerks of fans that one will probably ever experience.
USC is a great team but their unblemished records are a result of their weak conference. With USCs schedule it highly likely that Ohio State, Auburn, LSU and Texas would have all been unbeaten the last 2 years.
>If it weren't for that rotten call on the VY pitch where his knee was clearly down (should have been reviewed) no one would be talking VY today! USC was robbed<
Are you high? Even if the play had been called back, Texas has the ball on the Trojan 11-yd line. On the next play, Vince Young scores a TD anyway.
With the other 'blown' call (the interception by Texas), USC would have lost possession of the ball. That is far more severe than giving Texas another chance to score eleven yards out.
"Agreed. LSU has some of the most classless, boorish, overbearing, rub it in your face, jerks of fans that one will probably ever experience."
Next to the University of Arkansas fans, of course.
also....see post 3,484
He's not really a true quarterback . . . he's a tremendous athlete who is part runner, part passer, and could probably be a top-caliber tight end or linebacker for any team in the country if he were given a couple of weeks of practice at these positions.
"But who did USC beat in the conferences? Michigan was not the best non-conference team that year, LSU was. The next year, Oklahoma wasn't the best non-conference team, Auburn was." First of all, USC was denied the opportunity to play LSU. They wanted to. Secondly, most in the sports industry agreed that USC was better than LSU -- as evidenced by the polls. Most thought LSU was a fluke. Did LSU play Michigan? If the following season is any indication LSU was a fluke. The same can be said for Auburn. If they really were national championship calibre, it wasn't reflected in the following season and sportswriters and coaches didn't see fit to award them a share of the championship they way they did SC the previous year. USC can't help what conference it is in. The fact remains that, for the last 3 years, they have won every non conference game and post season bowl up until last night. You can say SC has an easy conference, but that does not diminish the fact that they are a great team. If it were such a cake walk, they wouldn't have even been in contention with Texas. Not only were they in contention, they handed the win to Texas.
A night I would rather forget. The wrong Frazier brother went to UF.
